It just struck me as very regal.

(1,252 posts)it seems to be we the people. When she says it is is royal. When she says I it seems is all about her. My opinion.
mcar
(42,210 posts)Because I don't think it's possible to give a speech without using pronouns.
I don't really care for the sound of her voice. It is like Nails on a chalkboard to me.
starroute
(12,977 posts)When Hillary says it, it means "we the government." Or maybe in this case, "me and my campaign staff."

(20,234 posts)but she was completely lying about how classified information works. COMPLETELY lying. It's not just all unclassified until you decide if you are going to release it to the public and then you get it reviewed to decide if it's classified.

Cradle to College Pipeline <<< I like this
But we need more jobs after people get out of college.
And we need more jobs for better tax base....so the taxes will pay for better schools.
Stop OUTSOURCING jobs.

Hey did anyone catch a weird glitch in her speech when she said she had to borrow money to pay for law school- and then she suddenly stopped and sounded like she was going to correct herself? Something was very odd in that moment.

I held this in today... But when I set up the dvr, I watched for about 30min this afternoon, and saw more coverage of our party than I've seen on the other two all season. And it wasn't trash talk, either. I was so confused.

Bread and Circus
(9,454 posts)"except wealthy people"
but what is her definition of "wealthy" ???
That is the key question.
I would rather have free college tuition...for everyone. NO means testing.
But even so, I am glad Hillary is somewhat on board with this.
Better than nothing.
I don't like so much complicated "social engineering".
Make it simple, something people can use and understand.
People can barely understand how Obamacare works because it is so damn complicated.
restorefreedom
(12,655 posts)it would only be a slightly better version of what exists
lostnfound
(16,139 posts)And if their parents say no, then what? And why the hell would you raise taxes from the wealthy to pay for it but not let their kids have access to it? It's a bad plan.
Kids of divorce get treated as pawns between one broke parent and one stingy or controlling parent. Parents have no legal obligation to adult children, and often disown them for being gay (or liberal or doing drugs or whatever). The exceptions for the small percent of people who are "wealthy" aren't worth making it need-based.

(1,716 posts)What that means is everyone has health INSURANCE - not health CARE.
It's a one word difference that is completely loaded.
restorefreedom
(12,655 posts)and many who are "covered" cannot get care
Bread and Circus

(6,119 posts)Why is it a problem that tax payers get to use what they pay for without a means test?
Mufaddal
(1,021 posts)It's wildly deceptive.
madamesilverspurs
(15,784 posts)That happened in congress during the floorfights over health care. It started out as "care" but morphed into "coverage" thanks to the intense pressure of the insurance lobby and members of congress who were outright owned by the insurance industry. Those who worked hard to bring it to congress were outright betrayed by the seating of insurance execs at the table while medical practitioners were denied participation. The point is, Hillary Clinton did not invent the conflation; she acknowledges that it's what we wound up with.
Mufaddal
(1,021 posts)and I'll paste the section I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure I did not mishear, but this is a subject where I'd be happy to be wrong.
Mufaddal
(1,021 posts)This is a conflation. Bernie is fighting for single-payer healthcare. Universal healthcare, not just universal coverage.

Some baby Boomers got greedy and have skewed everything in THEIR direction.
Bread and Circus
(9,454 posts)marions ghost
(19,841 posts)and he was put into office by the WW2 generation primarily. Then followed Poppy Bush and Desert Storm. The liberal boomers (worried as hell I can tell you) tried to get out of that deep RethugliCon ditch by electing Clinton, who talked a good populist line. You probably know what happened from there on out.
The worst thing that happened in the 90's was the Democratic party's allying with DLC ideas--you know, RethugliCon lite. I knew somebody high up in this org--I know the way they think. And it sucks.
So when you blame the boomers--you need to target those ones who sucked then and suck now--not the whole generation. That doesn't get us anywhere now.
