(1,235 posts)means what you think it means.
First, it simply means someone who promotes a cause.
Second, they promote anti-establishment, while the word can apply to that case, it is more normally used for those promoting the establishment (ie: Hillary supporters.)
Using it as though it was only had a negative connotation is dishonest --- but that's what we've comes to expect from the HRC coronation team.

TPP is wanted by the people who fund her. Of course she'll give them what they want.

(11,945 posts)TPP will pretty much finish off America as a functioning democracy.

(7,231 posts)Best not nominate her: the fewer chances she has to mess up the part and the country, the better. Third Way's time has come and gone, and Clinton is stuck in the 20th century if she refuses to face that reality.

(11,945 posts)She suddenly expressed reservations, made qualified statements -- after Bernie got into the race.
So far, Mrs. Clinton hasn't met a job-destroying, democracy undermining trade agreement she couldn't love.

(15,805 posts)They use it as an aspersion to hide their own rigid inability to adapt or be confident enough to see where a different course of action is needed and be flexible enough to change their positions to achieve better results. Democrats are better that that.
Republicans seems to think this is a strange and terrible thing, so they stay locked to their bad decision forever... like gifting us with 40 years of failed trickle down economics. But here's thing; everyone shifts their thinking and changes their minds on a daily basis. Whether you are SATM, a working class American, a business owner, or a political leader, your achievements and successes depend on your ability to adapt and make new decisions as needed. Democrats do that all the time.
Yet, now we have Democrats (?) here who are actually advocating that one of our own presidential candidates should mimic the rigid Republican automatons who are too paralysed by fear and too intellectually bullheaded to recognize when changes are called for and make decisive new decisions... which Democrats have always done.
