39. Just a typical primary day stunt

to try to discourage the opposition. Like Ted Cruz might do.

44. So, a Sanders aide brings up Sanders as VP trying to discourage the opposition?

How does that work?

2. Umm..

Perhaps you haven't seen it being floated around out of nowhere of late. I guarantee it's not coming from his side. He is not looking to be VP.

8. I'll speak slower

He (Devine) is talking about a subject that is being floated around from your side.

Edit: Floating around to further make it look like a foregone conclusion that she will win.

...I can't see it happening for, oh, about a zillion reasons.

16. No it wouldn't

It would completely undercut Sanders' credibility and reason for running in the first place. That anyone would seriously think this would fly goes to show how horribly they understand the fundamental dynamics at play in the rise of the "outsiders".

6. I would much rather have Julian Castro

Young, likeable, qualified, and brings more strength to the ticket. No downsides that I've seen yet. AND it doesn't remove a Democratic senator from the Senate, which is of premium importance.

I am so excited about VA turning steadily blue, though. I used to live there, and I am thrilled to see the transformation!

That's a big ask (since it's Texas), and it's a big consideration in the VP selection process.

Can't wait! And certainly the Latino vote is key to that happening. It may not happen this election cycle, but wouldn't it be a huge thrill if it did?

And substantive (well, it was the Democratic candidates...of course it was substantive). Even the Fox crew were probably happy not to have to deal with the unruly problem children on the GOP slate.

14. It's a STUNT! The Aide is trying to generate "buzz" about Bernie and make him appear relevant...

... or as someone that Hillary would value enough to have on her ticket.

Of course, the implication is (although incorrect) that Bernie is worth a 2nd-look because "Hillary is considering him as VP".

The aide didn't say it, but that's the "feeling" they want to get out there.

It's desperate. And it's not working.

23. First of all he wouldn't consider it, why should he leave the senate to disappear as VP

Second of all, she'd never ask him. As paranoid as she is, she'd be scared all the time that he was plotting against her.

The only advantage I could see is that after she goes to jail, he could assume the presidency and implement his agenda.

34. This was a very stupid comment on Devine's part

Whether joking or not, it's an inadvertent admission that Clinton will be the one to have the VP choice. It's an innuendo that suggests your candidate is not going to prevail. Top advisors should be smarter than to ever speak like that, even in jest. There are a thousand better answers to the question, "How is HRC going to attract younger voters?" You could say, "she won't have to, because Sanders will be the nominee." Or you could say you don't think she can, or whatever. What you don't say is that "she can pick my candidate, who is running for the same nomination, as her VP."

D'oh.

43. Actually, someone did.

That Maiaer guy from Fox tee vee during the Michigan town hall.

BAIER: Thank you very much. Last thing very quickly, your senior aide said you might be offered if you weren't the nominee, the VP slot. would you take it?

SANDERS: We are -- we're talking about running this campaign to win to become president of the United States.

SANDERS: Not talking about vice president.

BAIER: Senator Sanders, thank you very much.

SANDERS: Thank you, Bret. Thank you all.
