Hillary's Dad: "If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true."

Quoted by Hillary during the debate on Bernie's single payer healthcare plan:

She didn't mention that her Dad was a conservative Republican. And Bernie responded: "So what Secretary Clinton is saying is that the United States should continue to be the only major country on Earth that doesn't guarantee healthcare to all of its people."

Is Hillary running as a Republican or a Democrat?

1. You know who else said that besides Hillary's dad?

I remember hearing Judge Judy say it.

That alone would be enough for me to consider it bullshit.

2. No such thing as a free lunch

Gotta pull yourself up by your own bootstraps.
Every man for himself.
I got mine, so fuck off.

Some of Hillary's dad's other favorite expressions

12. Based on what I've read of Hillary's Dad those are about right

He was apparently quite an asshole and cold as ice, sometimes psychologically abusive.

8. Well, my dad always said, If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck

It's a duck.

Clinton sure seems like a duck (Republican) to me.

That is such a Republican sentiment. She doesn't even seem to notice it.

19. Hillary just wrote two new books:

"The Scarcity of Hope" and "Dashed Dreams from my Father"

I think she is taking this "Obama is my brother from another mother" thing in the wrong direction

Hillary is about telling us that it's all just NOT POSSIBLE.

Tired of her Nelly Olsen negativity. (Little House on the Prairie fans will get the reference. hehe )

Because she doesn't know who she is, imo. I think Hillary has some issues with insecurity and identity.

24. Mr Rodham was a Goldwater Guy, a right wing Republican, let's review Barry's views!

"It is a fact that Lyndon Johnson and his curious crew seem to believe that progress in this country is best served simply and directly through the ever-expanding gift power of the everlastingly growing Federal Government. One thing we all know, and I assure you I do: that's a much easier way to get votes than my way. It always has been. It's political Daddyism, and it's as old as demagogues and despotism."

"I could have ended the war in a month. I could have made North Vietnam look like a mud puddle."

"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is "needed" before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' "interests," I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can."

And, a contextual classic : "The best thing Clinton could do I think I wrote him a letter about this, but I'm not sure is to shut up.... He has no discipline."

25. My parents were from that generation

Republican, conservative and strict, and recognize the authoritative attitude that comes out under pressure. My older siblings still cop it when they lose patience and feel like they're losing control.

Interesting to hear these old familiar platitudes in response to someone who is presenting plans to expand freedoms and restore civil rights. 'Oh no you can't' 'This will never come to pass!' and 'If it sounds too good it is' are all ways of keeping someone on a leash. Of course I rebelled. then
