(8,028 posts)...shows the super delegates as uncommitted, with the hard total as 67 for Bernie and 63 for Hillary, with 17 uncommitted:

(5,648 posts)There is certainly difficult to understand nomenclature, but its there. See the column "Soft Unpledged" with 10.82 for Clinton - that corresponds to the 10 Super Delegates committed to Hillary. Then the next column is the total of the 63.46 committed delegates and those Super Delegates.
TeeYiYi
(8,028 posts)...but it refers to those 10 votes as soft and unpledged, so the soft total for Hillary is 73 but the final column or hard total still shows only 63.
You say that those 10 Super Delegates are 'committed' to Hillary but that's not what the chart says. It calls those 10 votes soft and 'unpledged.' So, I read that as kinda sorta promised but not yet written in stone.

ETA: You'll also note that all 17 Super Delegate votes are listed as 'Uncommitted' in the Candidates column.

(5,648 posts)Super delegates at this time are "promised but not written stone" They can always change there mind for any reason. However, given the circumstances (with Bernie not being a "real" Democrat and all), I don't think that any of them will flip their vote unless Bernie takes the lead in pledged delegates. Even then.....

(9,313 posts)FiveThirtyEight charted changed it to 63 Clinton, 67 Sanders.
And there is no point to including unpledged. Hillary hangs on to those only if she wins the pledged total. It is impossible to know how many will flip to Bernie if he wins pledged total, but the conventional wisdom is that most of them will. They have no desire to suffer the blowback of "stealing" the nomination.

(5,648 posts)...(and she is up by over 200) don't expect the established Democrats in the Super Delegate category to flip to support an independent who has lectured both parties his entire 25 years in congress. It's just not going to happen.
And yes it is right: 67 + 63 = 130 The other ten are pledged Super Delegates from Michigan.

(18,775 posts)Or do you know if there was a recalculation afterwards?

(5,648 posts)Perhaps the original delegate assignment numbers were estimates put out by news organizations and the final numbers were the official delegate assignments put out by the state Democratic party. But that is a guess on my part.
