Over 20 states & the District of Columbia allow 17 year olds to vote in primaries.

The Facts: 17-Year-Old Primary Voting

17-year-olds can vote in primaries and caucuses in large number of states, including Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio*, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Seventeen-year-olds may also vote in District of Columbia primaries. Most have done this by state law, but others by changing state party rules. Parties may request allowing 17-year-old primary voting by asserting their First Amendment freedom of association rights.

In Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, and Wyoming 17-year-old Democrats may caucus, but are barred from participating in the Republican caucus.

This patchwork policy creates confusion and can potentially disenfranchise eligible voters. Parties should act nationally to make this practice a norm.

*Note about Ohio: Ohio law plainly allows 17-year-olds to vote in primary elections, but the Ohio Secretary of State has announced that 17-year-olds may not vote in Ohio's 2016 presidential primary. We disagree with that interpretation of Ohio law, but know that if you are 17, you may not be allowed to vote in Ohio's 2016 presidential primary.

...since the biggest problem I see with Clinton supporters is they simply do not think about what they are cheering beyond "is this going to help Clinton win". All considerations of principle and policy seem to fly out the window.

Attacking Single Payer? Well that's been a dream of this forum for years upon years but Bernie is more credible on Single Payer so this will help Clinton so YAY!!!!!

Attacking free college education? Bernie likes that idea so this will help Clinton WOOOO!!!!!!!!

Etc, etc, etc...

Not cheering for less voting. Very disappointing to see anyone thinking this is a good thing

Getting young voters involved is a win for the country
