(1,754 posts)Not a direct quote but a summary of what I could pick up -
--I've talked about being pro-Hillary in the past. But at this stage of life and this stage of her politics I can't be a supporter in the name of feminism. Certain things I don't want to cosign on - militarist, imperialist, white-supremacist whether conducted by women or men. A lot of women feel political turmoil right now because of feminist background and looking forward to seeing a woman president. It comes down to identity politics vs not supporting issues that she supports.--

(65,269 posts)a video's main point is usually plenty.
"Woman, or not a woman, what do you stand for?"
A question that gets gets overlooked often - except here on DU.

How bad how good does it need to get?
How many losses how much regret?
What chain reaction
What cause and effect
Makes you turn around
Makes you try to explain
Makes you forgive and forget
Makes you change
Makes you change
If you knew that you would be alone
Knowing right being wrong
Would you change?
Would you change?
If you knew that you would find a truth
That brings a pain that can't be soothed
Would you change?
Would you change?
How bad how good does it need to get?
How many losses how much regret?

(525 posts)The poster is right, Bell's been against Clinton since 2014. Also, they don't need to look up confirmation if they were inclined to do so.

(24,544 posts)I've been reading bell hooks for years, this comes as no surprise to anyone even remotely familiar with her.
But the point is that this video was made before Clinton or damn near any of the other candidates had even declared. Given the caliber of the opposition running against Clinton and that hooks would have had no idea who was running when this video was made in **2014** I would be very surprised if even hooks still felt this way now.

(24,544 posts)do with somebody else's, it's probably a very good chance that it doesn't.
But I know how much you so desperately love to argue. Even when it's clear you have nothing to say.

(45,251 posts)As far as my loving to argue, look who's "talking."

(24,544 posts)All I can do is hope that sounded more pithy and hilarious in your head than it does on page.
I love how you think that your arguing over nothing somehow disproves that you aren't argumentative for no reason. It's almost as entertaining as your typing the absolutely nonsensical "not everyone revolves as much as Hillary" and then editing in that you "don't have time to explain what that means" as if you would be even remotely capable of doing so.
Edit: And you've got a friend!!! Anyone that can chuckle so heartily (at least five exclamation points!) over such babbling, unfunny inanities is a friend indeed. Definitely a keeper.
And I also get that it's time to stop trying to explain it to those bent on not understanding.

I quote Bell Hooks all the time. Shirley Chisholm and Bell Hooks are my favorite politicians.
If she endorses Sanders, I will follow.
Right now, I'm trying to remain neutral, as a poli-sci continuing ed student. It's getting harder to remain neutral each and every day, between all of the peer sites my university has access to, and the information I've scrounged up over the years.

(45,251 posts)But, I don't want to interfere with your neutrality if neutrality helps you in your studies.
TheBlackAdder
(28,179 posts).
The problem is, most of the calling out seems to be one-sided.
Every once in a while, there'll be a gender or bogus complaint directed towards Clinton, but most of the stupidness seems to be directed towards Sanders. Entering this election, I swore HRC was a given. I overlooked a bunch of stuff. I always liked SBS so either way, this would have been a win for me. But, as the months drag on, I cannot keep my eyes closed at the dozens of major issues HRC has that I will not post--doing GOP work for them. If someone posts them, I'll be there in the primaries. But, much of this stuff might be unknown or off the GOP radar. I'm not aiding them in any way. Once the general starts, I'm Dem all the way-no harsh negatives.
Trying to stay neutral, allows me to see things more objectively. It's getting harder, though.

(16,855 posts)To steal from Dylan..."You've gotta serve somebody". Either we choose to fall in line with the establishment candidate or we choose to align ourselves with someone who is fighting to change the status quo. Either way we are serving a cause...there is no middle ground. We all serve "somebody"

Yes there are many one issue voters that don't care about the whole of the country. The RR is one of them.

(283 posts)And you will note in the longer videos bourgeoise white feminist Gloria Steinem had her picture blocked out. Anyone who knows anything about feminism and the notion of intersectionality knows exactly why bell hooks said what she said and with whom she stands this interview took place in her semester at the New School and this particular lecture was given with Dr. Cornell West.
Also let's not forget younger scholars like Michelle Alexander who refuse to support Hillary Clinton (but, support Sanders)
