Clinton and Sanders laud Nancy Reagan

No, Bernie, no, Hillary, Nancy Reagan won't be missed. She and her husband sentenced tens of thousands of people to death by doing nothing about HIV and AIDS. Nancy Reagan's "Just say No!" campaign on drugs was not only idiotic, it was completely dismissive of the power of addiction, belittling it into a simple choice. Who's missed are those who died of AIDS and drug addiction because of the horrific and ignorant regime that Nancy Reagan was certainly part of. The Democrats should stop this pandering at once. They don't need to say anything about Nancy Reagan. At least, Obama deserves some credit for his decision to skip her funeral.

Hillary Clinton apologized on Friday after she called the late Nancy Reagan a "very effective, low-key" advocate on HIV/AIDS awareness.

"It may be hard for your viewers to remember how difficult it was for people to talk about HIV-AIDS back in the 1980s. And because of both president and Mrs. Reagan — in particular Mrs. Reagan — we started a national conversation," Clinton said.

And Hillary's pandering apology:

While the Reagans were strong advocates for stem cell research and finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease, I misspoke about their record on HIV and AIDS. For that, I'm sorry.

DETROIT — U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders issued the following statement Sunday on the passing of former first lady Nancy Reagan:

“No matter your party or political ideology, this is a sad day for America. Nancy Reagan was an exemplary first lady. A devoted partner, she was her husband’s most trusted advisor and, as such, served our country well. Even after her time in the White House, she was an outspoken advocate for stem-cell research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. Nancy Reagan had a good heart, and she will be dearly missed.”

Hillary lied.

Bernie did not.

He gave his opinion of her.

I disagree with his opinion of her.

I will not miss her.

3. I am cool with them offering their words of condolence. But what Hillary did today was awful.

Clinton inaccurately gave her credit for something she didn't do.

When W finally shuffles this mortal coil I totally expect leading Democrats to point to his work on HIV-AIDS in Africa (which is in fact praiseworthy). But not to say "he was a leading voice for peace in the Middle East" or something like that.

I don't think anybody expected a politician to say "Nancy Reagan was an evil woman", even if that's true.
