A wakeup call to me and possibly you as well.

This is a cautionary tale for all parties, both Hillary and Bernie supporters. I went out shopping where I usually do and talked with one of the staff. We talked about Hillary and he was vehemently against her. Then I talked about the Trump rally story from DailyKos where the guys just attended as a laugh and it scared the shit out of them.
Well, I mentioned how I'm even more incentivized to vote for Bernie because of this, even a little bit more now out of fear for Trump. He ends up telling me how he's going to VOTE Trump. Well I thought he was joking so I double check and he was serious so I asked him, "What if Bernie wins?". His response to me: "He's a Socialist and brought up the C word.". When he walked away I mentioned that Bernie was a Democratic Socialist but he didn't seem to care or I didn't faze him.
This shocked the shit out of me. This guy is NOT crazy, NOT a foaming racist or anything and he is still voting for Trump if he gets the nom. I haven't asked him about voting for Jesse Ventura but just....wow.
I was very surprised that as much as he doesn't trust the system with Hillary that Trump would be that choice because Bernie is a "Socialist".
Sigh. Feel free, anyone, Bernie or Hillary people, respond.

I can only hope he reads about that rally and those kid's experiences with it change his mind.

The only clue that might have give me a nod to Trump is he said he's a Libertarian but even then those rallies...ugh.

same people have been trained to hate socialism without even understanding what socialism is.

These people are easily led and not intellectually curious.

They were never our voters anyway.

3. The key words from your post are 'he said he's a Libertarian'. I have, in my family in MO. and IL.

(large family, 6 siblings, 16 nieces and nephews, a bunch of great-nieces and nephews) and, due to the prevailing political sentiment in our area -the presidential contest was the only contest on the ballot in my county - a LOT of them routinely vote Republican. Several have anti-abortionism as their primary motivator re: politics, but, to my knowledge, unless they are lying about their intentions, I know of only one who is supporting Trump and he espouses Libertarianism as his core belief system. He stated on Facebook that he is finished with the R Party forever! Also somewhat of a gun nut and I suspect has problems with alcohol addiction. Which is worrisome, but our only interaction is Facebook posts that I see of his.

All the rest of the avowed conservatives are appalled by Drumpf and have cheered me on in my efforts for Bernie, partly due to their hatred of Hillary, which goes back to Clintons' days in WH, but I think a number of them will vote for Bernie if he is the candidate in the general and Drumpf is the other.

5. It's no wakeup call to me that there are people like that

There are millions of them. Look at the comments on various blogs, YouTube, Facebook, they're everywhere. Fortunately they are still in the minority. Just walk away, there is no changing their minds.
