Author Naomi Klein: I don’t trust Hillary Clinton

"The author of best-selling books, No Logo and This Changes Everything, told host Mehdi Hasan she does not trust the former secretary of state.

"I don't trust her because as secretary of state, when she had a huge megaphone to make this an issue, to show that she understands the connections between human security and climate, she didn't use the megaphone," Klein said.

She also criticised Clinton's ties to major donors, saying her ties to corporations made her hard to elect.

"I think that Bernie Sanders could win in a general election. I actually think he is a significantly better candidate than Hillary Clinton," she said.

"The power of the socialism smear [campaign against Sanders], I think has really lost a lot of its punch."

I happen to agree that Hillary had a huge microphone at her disposal and it when unused for the most part.

Please note that Naomi is Canadian

As I recall, she's a self-described socialist, and she's politically savvy, so that would be pretty weird if she ever supported any neoliberal.

intervention in what they should do? Very disturbing hypocritical attitude. That is exactly what you are voting for - other countries' interference in your own political process. Wake up!

EDIT:
Not only Hillary's interference in other countries policies, but also your OWN country - which is increasingly only country in name. America(c). I worry you are loosing your sovereignty to corporations. And by proxy, the rest of the people of the world. Stop the madness!!!

...And so the banking lobby drafted a new bankruptcy law. To get all the lenders on board, the coalition added changes that would give better deals for car lenders, mortgage lenders, education loan servicers, landlords, credit unions -- in short, better deals for everyone except families in trouble. The credit industry moved fast, persuading two friendly congressmen to introduce their bill in September 1997, a month before the official Bankruptcy Commission was scheduled to release its report. From then on, all eyes were on what Hillary Clinton would eventually dub "that awful bill."

SNIP...

Nevertheless, the combination of intense lobbying and a good cover story had its intended effect. Despite President Clinton's veto, the bankruptcy bill was reintroduced in the next session of Congress. This time, even Senator Hillary Clinton bowed to big business. She had been in office two months when she had her chance to vote on what she had called that "awful bill." Sure, the official Bankruptcy Commission had better credentials than the banking lobby. Yes, her husband had actually appointed the Chairman of the Commission and two of the commissioners. And she clearly understood that families in trouble would be hit hardest by the proposed changes. But the Bankruptcy Commission did not make campaign contributions or have its own lobbyists, and neither do families in financial trouble. Senator Clinton had taken $140,000 in campaign contributions from the banking industry, and she proved willing to overcome her "strong reservations about whether this bill is both balanced and responsible" and voted in favor of "that awful bill."

Naomi Klein is brilliant, aware, courageous and honest. She's the one who alerted us to disaster capitalism in The Shock Doctrine. She knows what's going on.

I am so happy that she has come out for Bernie -- although it's not really surprising.
