2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAre you seeing more/less campaign signs?
Today is Primary Day in Florida and at my polling place there were two signs (Trump). Back in 2008 there were dozens.
I've noticed this year I'm not seeing nearly as many signs anywhere as in elections past.
What are y'all seeing?

(31,811 posts)But signs for Kasich, Trump and Clinton in my borough and town.
Lots of bumper stickers for Trump and Cruz on I-287 and Route 202 during my commute.
I think Ive seen maybe two Sanders bumper stickers - and there was a guy with a Carsoned car I saw in early February.
If I were to count them out - I'd say in Hunterdon County NJ I'm seeing lots of Kasich signs.
Next up is Trump and I'm now starting to see Larsen signs (he's primarying leonard lance in the 7th district)

(7,160 posts)some Trump and fewer Bernie. We have a lot of older voters in my area. Near Ohio State I saw Kasich and Bernie signs galore

(3,017 posts)I saw 3 or 4 outside where I voted and they were all for somebody in a local race whose name I didn't even know, presumably a Republican. I didn't even think to notice what color the signs were.
I think relatively normal people have become a little more guarded about talking politics beyond people who they know very well. While I am a big supporter of Bernie's (including financial support), I wouldn't think of putting a Bernie bumper stick on my car or a Bernie sign in my yard. Nor would I advertise any other politician or political message, pro or anti. I don't think they would have any influence on anybody else's vote, and I don't want to have my car keyed or a window bashed in when it's parked somewhere and a lunatic Trump supporter sees it and gets pissed off.
I have neighbors that I am cordial with but don't know well and if some of them are Trump or Cruz supporters I would prefer not to know that. Not only do I not see any political signs in my neighborhood, I have not seen a political bumper sticker on any car in my neighborhood either. I rarely see them when driving around the region.
I have always been this way about campaign advertising and suspect more people are becoming this way as the political rhetoric has become more contentious. But then again, I could be full of crap on this.
