2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDU, it truly was great hanging out with you the past month or so...
...after so many years of not actively posting.
But this primary season has been so fascinating that I've been neglecting my family and my work, and I've really got to get back to those priorities.
So truly, congrats to the Hillary supporters, though I truly still do not understand what you stand for.
And congrats to the Bernie supporters for finally having had someone to vote for, a true voice of progressive change.
And good luck to DU as you try to come together as a Democratic Party, whatever is still left of that.
I'm truly disappointed to realize that I cannot join you in that endeavor. I'll be leaving my vote for President unmarked come November. No drama, just reality, and better to just to say 'thanks', 'you're great' and 'good bye' for now.
Keep up the good fight out there where it matters most. I will too.

(1,446 posts)I'll go back to my lurking ways and will be proud to cast a blank vote in November. I take my vote seriously and use it to vote for someone, not against someone.

(28,876 posts)A vote is so precious. It cannot be wasted on someone you do not support. It should not be wasted that way. Otherwise nothing changes.
Good luck to you.

(1,536 posts)I ALWAYS vote. ALWAYS.
I'm going to do what I always do. Vote for the candidate who's policies and views are most aligned to my own values and standards.
I was hoping it would be Sanders.
I have some research to do into other Presidential candidates as I cannot vote for a war hawk that champions wall street, says single payer is not worth pursuing and who's surrogate came out to say that healthcare is not a right for everybody and only rich people like them should have it, because they can afford it. These are the opposite of my standards and beliefs.
There has to be a candidate out there that aligns more to me than these scraps I've been given to chose from.

(11,627 posts)Leaving your vote for president unmarked... sour grapes and fucking stupid considering the alternatives... go have a cry... jesus christ.
The my way or the highway crowd sucks.

(11,546 posts)I understand but wish that you'd hang around for the rest of the primary season. if you haven't voted yet, at least throw a vote his way??
Take care

(28,876 posts)I took the time to savor it, realizing it would likely be my last for this election.
I'll always look to DU as a source of news. But I respect the rules here, and if I can't abide by them, I just won't post. Shit-stirring is not my goal.

(28,876 posts)I just can no longer vote for the best of two bad options.
I really don't expect DU to get it. Everyone here is just too passionate about politics. It's much more understandable to friends and family IRL, who are not that politically interested. A lot of them will be sitting out as well. They either have someone to vote for or they just don't show up. I think it's more common than you might think.

(28,876 posts)IRL I'm working on getting insurance coverage for a medical procedure that I think is really, really important to Women's Health.
And I've got two great kids, one of whom is starting school in the fall. Looking forward to joining the PTO and establishing programs that celebrate ethnic and economic diversity.
So much good work to be done at a "small" level. So much more than I could ever contribute to national politics, you know?
