Clinton, Trump projected to win North Carolina primary

Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump are projected to win the the North Carolina primary, as the frontrunners racked up victories in major states and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio dropped out of the Republican contest.

Trump was leading the North Carolina Republican field with 40.7 percent, and CNN projected he will win the state shortly before 10 p.m. With about three quarters of all precincts reporting, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz was in second, with 36.5 percent, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich was in third, with 12.3 percent. Clinton led her Democratic challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders, with 55.1 percent to 40.2 percent, and the Associated Press projected she will win the state ...
