2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAny thoughts on why Bernie lost Ohio by such a wide margin?
He outspent Hillary by 2-to-1, he campaigned well there, huge rallies and support, much more phone banking than Hillary did. And he pushed the trade issue which should have worked there.
To me, the 13-point loss is the most puzzling outcome of Super Tuesday. Any thoughts? I haven't a clue.

(1,252 posts)I'm just being a comedian.
But when you say the Clinton Campaign I understand that to be a front for her corporate masters who own the media and the voting machines. I'm fairly certain they would cheat if needed to win. They want TPP to go through at all costs and they will put their chosen representative in to the presidency in order to protect their interests and investments.
I do believe that Ohio Diebold machines did record Kerry votes for Bush and handed him his 2nd term. Once again...comedy. Hey it's all theater. More bread! More circuses.

(4,176 posts)give you shit about the rest of what you said, but what you are saying risks the presidency to a person and group who are simply not an option, cant happen.
Stop being a purist and demanding what you want and start thinking about those who would have to live in hell under those guys.

(1,252 posts)Really. The argument has no sway with me. Give me a candidate I can believe in. Bernie is that man.

(4,176 posts)Too soon probably.
I do believe that even though Bernie deserved the votes of various groups like minorities, he didn't do what he had to do to get them.
I dont know what that was, and it is arrogant of me to say that a given group should have done anything at all, but I believe he is better on the issues that face minorities and yet between his words and his supporters, I think an opportunity was lost.
It is NOT the fault of those who didn't vote for him.
But I am curious what happened here.

(3,649 posts)EV and AB's went heavily to Hillary, which gave her a significant head start before any other votes were cast. Kasich drove many democrats and independents to vote in the Republican primary in order to stop Trump.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- If you're an Ohio Democrat who wants to vote for Donald Trump -- or try to stop Trump's momentum by casting a ballot for John Kasich -- you can.
Ohio's primary Tuesday is semi-open.
Ohioans do not declare a party when they register to vote; voters choose to affiliate with a party by selecting that party's primary ballot on Election Day. Voters who do not choose a party can vote an unaffiliated ballot that contains tax measures and other nonpartisan issues.

(12,685 posts)1. From early morning they blasted out that Clinton supporters were crossing over to vote for Kasich. Oh no, who knew what that would mean to Hillary.
2. They ordered the polls remain open in four counties (not sure who they favored but my money would be on Clinton).
3. Before any precincts were reported, in a majority of the counties a sixty something to thirty something split Clinton/Bernie was noted. I thought it was strange because of the consistency in the allocations. Absentee ballots???
4. Willie Geist made a comment about Clinton winning certain states unless they were stolen by Bernie (I think it was Ohio,IL, and Missouri but am not really sure. A bizarre comment but I think that would spur Clinton voters.
5. The anti Trump rally in Chicago which I thought would benefit Clinton and hurt Bernie. http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511506530
6. Consider the type of voting machine. Some are very hackable and with billions riding on the outcome...

Bernie supporters were connected to the protests and independents, white people, were kind of turned off by it.
A lot of those voters who might have went to Sanders moved to Clinton and Kasich.
Now this is not the only reason but it was a significant thing.
