2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHaven't heard a word from Bernie
No concession, no mention of the elections last night at all. And I hear that he did not send out the typical post primary email asking for donations.
Have I missed it? Or might he be "considering his options", as they say?

(7,393 posts)Name of thread? Link? TIA. I would love to see what he said. I know he didn't concede last night.
PHOENIX U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday issued the following statement:
I congratulate Secretary Clinton on her victories on Tuesday. I also want to thank the millions of voters across the nation who supported our campaign and elected delegates who will take us all the way to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
With more than half the delegates yet to be chosen and a calendar that favors us in the weeks and months to come, we remain confident that our campaign is on a path to win the nomination.

(4,176 posts)I think Hillary is going to win this thing, eventually, but the process we are in is a good one, one that Democracy thrives on, and ultimately is making her a better candidate.

(50,414 posts)Last night we beat all the polls in almost every state. We earned a significant number of delegates, and are on track for the nomination. Here's why:
What you will not hear from the political and media establishment is that, based on the primary and caucus schedule for the rest of the race, this is the high water mark for the Clinton campaign. Starting today, the map now shifts dramatically in our favor.
Arizona, Idaho, and Utah are up next Tuesday. Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington State caucus the Saturday after. Then it's Wisconsin's turn to vote.
That means we have an extremely good chance to win nearly every state that votes in the next month. If we continue to stand together, were just getting started for our political revolution:
Make another $10 contribution to our campaign and we can win this Democratic primary, the White House, and take our country back from the billionaire class.
No one said a political revolution would be easy. We are up against a billionaire class and super PACs that are determined to see us lose.
The fact remains that Hillary Clintons lead will never be as large as it is right now. From here on out we keep chipping away until we take the lead. But that can only happen if we keep fighting, and thats why your $10 contribution to our campaign is so important.
The whole country will be watching to see how we respond in this moment. Lets send a message that millions of Americans are just as ready to fight for an economy that works for everyone as we were when this campaign started 10 months ago.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders

(7,393 posts)Given that his FEC filings have been so messed up? How about all those non-citizen donors? How about all the folks who donated over the limit? Thousands of them.
And it looks to me like his top 3-5 are the same as hers.

(7,393 posts)I have a new rule for myself around here. Whenever I see anyone making a baseless accusation regarding our presumptive nominee I am going to call it out.
It's about time we stopped with the baseless innuendo that is NEVER accompanied by a shred of fact.

(7,393 posts)Not a single word. And yes I did see it. He just went on for an hour with his standard stump speech, acting like the 5 primaries last night never happened.
Odd. Why do you think he did that? Too proud to admit defeat? That's my impression.
morningfog
(18,115 posts)He is in for the long haul. You should be thanking him and sending a donation. It gives you an outlet for your hate.
MaggieD
(7,393 posts)... by staying in. And that is a shame. Everyone knows he is not going to be the nominee. I don't think I have seen a candidate so consistently whooped by 20% that still insists they are going to win. It's sad for him.

Given that you support HRC, why do you care that he is still running? HRC is very very likely to win, if he wants to contest the remaining states, that is his privilege. By the way, the people back home (in his case) respect and love him - and that is what he will go back to in the summer if he loses.
MaggieD
(7,393 posts)karynnj
(59,501 posts)left. Half of the delegates are still to be won this year. It is very very likely HRC wins, but MATHEMATICALLY, if Sanders wins more delegates in the second half than she did in the first half -- he would win.
Is this likely? - no Is it possible (no matter how improbable) ? - yes
He looks silly. He will be a joke in the media if he doesn't get out soon. Also watch his turnout drop as people decline to spend hours to caucus for no purpose.
karynnj
(59,501 posts)after all the contests in 2008 when she had absolutely no way to win -- it was kind of sad. She had so much given to her and she blew it then.
The media has never given Bernie the coverage that they gave to Republican candidates doing far worse than he did. He is not a joke and I would suggest that you are not doing your candidate any favors with this nonsense.

MaggieD
(7,393 posts)That much has been obvious for a very long time considering that he has smeared them for 30 years and then continued to smear them throughout this campaign.
I said long ago, I have no clue why that seemed like a good campaign strategy to him, but apparently it did. I guess he needs to get out of Vermont more. That crap does not play with actual Democrats.
