for my home state of AL, these stand out:

Trump got more than 50% in several counties (up to 59%);

Trump got less than 40% in five counties : Tuscaloosa(37.5%), Madison(36.2), Jefferson(35.0), Shelby(34.4), Lee(33.0). The first three are home to U of A campuses; the last is home to Auburn. Shelby is the wealthiest, fastest-growing, and whitest county in the state -- probably home to more non-native Alabamians than any other county.

For the Dems, it's a lot harder to see patterns. Bernie appears to have done better in northern counties and worst in the "Black Belt" counties, though the correlation is not that strong. Very little correlation with urban/rural/student population that I can see. Ranges from 6.3 to 36.3% ; highest in Blount, Shelby, Cullman, and Marshall Cos.; except for Shelby, all pretty small in population, but hardly unique in that respect.
