2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLet's get something straight: there are no "Democratic" polling places in AZ.
There are polling places where both repubs and Democrats vote. They both are having primaries. Where there are long lines, there is no particular reason to think that those in line are not as likely to be repubs waiting to vote in their primary as Democrats. Right now, it appears that turnout is slightly higher for the Repubs than for Democrats.

And assuming that people weren't motivated to stay in line.

(7,318 posts)Clinton's are the upper class voters, elderly voters, conservative Dems and religious minorities.
That's why AZ, which has closed primaries (no independents can vote), and a huge retired elderly population was Clinton's to lose.
Clinton's campaign knew the majority of her votes would come in the early voting ballots, which the elderly utilize the most. Her campaign has little reason/incentive to be concerned with the long line of voters (working class people) or the voters forced to use provisional ballots (former indies who changed to Dems for the primary) as those are probably mostly Sanders' voters.
The difference in vote percentages will close up in the next day or 2 because of those late and provisional ballots still to come in for Sanders.

(18,402 posts)No matter how long the line was. If you showed up after the polls closed, no dice. That's the way it works in every state I know of. (Though they could have extended hours--but that's the prerogative of the REPUBLICAN Secy of State ... not Hillary Clinton or the DNC).

They just got their clock cleaned in Arizona. Obviously, they will invent nonsense to account for it.

(39,961 posts)the mess up between who was allowed to vote, 60 polling places for a county with 4 million people and running out of ballots for both Republicans and Democrats, Maricopa county sounds like voting was an absolute zoo today.
Republicans always claim that government can do nothing right, and when they get elected, they do everything they can to prove it.
