During a press conference, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) ripped Arizona Republicans who suppressed the vote of thousands of voters by limiting the number of polling places in the state's largest county.
The problem was centered in Maricopa County, AZ where there was was one polling site for every 21,000 voters. Most counties in the state that The Arizona Republic surveyed had one polling place for every 2,500 voters. Maricopa is a Republican stronghold, and also the states most populous county.
It is obvious that the lack of polling places is an intentional Republican strategy to suppress the vote.

I wonder if DU Sanders supporters will stop with the conspiracy theories and listen to their own candidate. It was the Republicans who limited the vote. Not the DNC, not Hillary.

This is an issues she and Bernie agree on.
They agree on quite a lot. A friend of mine summed up a debate on Facebook with this quote.
Clinton on the economy: "Let me agree with much of what Senator Sanders said."
Sanders on foreign policy: "Let me agree with much of what Secretary Clinton said."
Or to use Clinton words from a debate "I think we are in vigorous agreement.
It is not an accident that they were on the same side of more than 90% of Senate vote.

I vote that we at least try. Waiting gets us nothing.

(15,189 posts)Hillary would wait till this is looked at before being crowned. But she doesn't care. Most of those voters were for Bernie. It's not her problem.

Or it will remain clear she does not care about fraud against the Latino community.
It also makes her look like she is too weak to fight, or worse unwilling because it involves POC, rather than the rich white folks that bankroll her.
One thing she has made clear -SHE IS NO FIGHTER she is afraid to take on the racists in AZ.

(9,313 posts)Only 7% of early AZ voters were under 30 (41% over 65.)
It wasn't just happenstance that the the early vote massively favored Hillary. The demographics were known. The disproportionate consequences of the decision to make it extremely difficult to vote on election day were known. There is no denying that anyone in the "election business." would understand the effect. They can claim ignorance, but given their responsibilities, that would be absurd.
If I were Hillary, I sure wouldn't be defending something that so clearly benefited me. I wouldn't want the stain on my victory. I'd call for the SOS to enable "late voting" for the disenfranchised.
Of course, even if the effect had been perfectly divided across all demographics, it still constitutes voter suppression and as such is intolerable.
One more shameful example of how broken our Democracy is.
