Jimmy Kimmel’s biting critique of people who accuse Hillary Clinton of ‘shouting’

Jimmy Kimmel had Hillary Clinton on his show Thursday, and he took the opportunity to mansplain a little to her.

Kimmel set Clinton up with a podium to give her stump speech and then relentlessly critiqued everything she was doing wrong -- from a male's perspective.

The takeaway is clear: Clinton's critics will see her as either shouting or not speaking strongly enough. They will judge her on her clothes and whether she smiles too much or not enough. There is no winning.

It was a somewhat risky premise. The bit could easily have fallen flat. As political satire goes, though, it worked.

1. I thought the bit was great--it was edgy, but "only just." And those of us who have

watched this whole "double standard" bullshit unfold -- once again -- appreciated that someone finally called it out directly, with no fudging or "yes, but" -ing.

doing it. I thought it was very embarrassing for her. She took it in a light-hearted manner -but it had more of a real feeling to the bit than a comedy skit.

5. Kimmel has somehow made a career out of mean spirited humor

His most famous bits recently are when he shows us how stupid Americans (on sidewalks in Hollywood) can be. After dropping out of his second college, Kimmel went on to work with Republican Ben Stein and then got his cable show where he seemed to think sexism and other Republican traits were funny.

Overall probably a good audience for Hillary to go in front of because she has little support among Kimmel viewers so it was a chance to win some over.

11. At that hour: Colbert has the most liberal audience then Fallon and then Kimmel has the most Repubs

A THR poll showed Colbert's audience is only 17 percent Republican, as opposed to 33 percent for Kimmel and 31 percent for Fallon.

If 33% doesn't sound like much consider that only 29% of the population ID's as Republican.

And I'm being sincere when I say that it is good media strategy for Team Clinton. Shows GE thinking.

And didn't he do 'The Man Show' with Adam Carola?

13. i thought she actually looked very relatable while doing that skit

she doesn't take a lot of opportunities to speak humorously but she has excellent "straight (wo)man" timing, she could get some mileage out of it if she wants to.

relatability has been a problem for her; she could make up ground in that area (and get some free media coverage) through careful application of comedy.
