There's a cultural thing going on that some people don't notice.

With the advent of the 24 hour news cycle, it's not news if it's not "new" and "fresh". If it's not new and fresh all it garners is a yawn.

What's "new" and "fresh" in a historical context?

A female President of the United States.

Networks, newspapers, and organizations with an investment in having their content seen 24/7 are doing a number of different things in order to stay relevant... They're playing up the candidacy of the first female to ever be "viable" as a presidential candidate. At the same time, they're playing up every single challenge to her inevitability. They're making challenges to that inevitability as dramatic as they can. At the same time, they're hinting that the female candidate might not be viable. No concrete stuff... just hints. Anonymous sources say kind of stuff. SQUIRREL!

We're swallowing it up hook, line, and sinker. The M$M knows there are emotional investments on both sides. One part wants to see a female president more than they want anything else. Another part wants to see people's lives made better at the expense of the rich; whose stairway to their current status was built with the bones of those less fortunate.

We're all being played. Even those of us who claim not to be clients of the mainstream press are being played.

all 1982 pages of it... I hope there are some annexes I can skip. There was a time when news did that shit. These days, as you pointed out, it is squirrel. And yes, we are getting played like chumps

Here is the best part. I do not expect many of my readers to read that. Now if I had a story about a kitty up a tree, break the internet. Squirrel on steroids

I am sorry to see you getting so cynical...

Though I can hardly blame you.

Yes, we're being played. But maybe since we're aware of it, it might have less impact.

Hang in there, and don't let your natural goodness be driven out by all of this.

Some of us are aware of it yes. Others are caught up on the "new" and "fresh" of a President whose major possessions are X chromosomes.

Well that and the couple hundred million dollars the possessor of said chromosomes made for drawing breath (necessary for speaking) a few hundred times an hour while guaranteeing her future government and supporters/voters she didn't know the definition of "quid pro quo".

anything to win. You side with them because it's easier than fighting for our rights and liberties. You hope they will notice you and like you. But you turn your back on the 16 million children living in poverty. Dont waste my time telling me you think Clinton and Wall Street will help the poor. You know they wont but don't seem to care. I think you are a Republicon.
