Sanders won WA and AK handily.

The polls don't close in HI for awhile yet. What's to "report?" Ooooh--people are voting!! Yes, people are still voting!!! Guess what? In HI, they are STILL VOTING!!!!!!

http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results

It's not like this is a nailbiter. Today was Sanders' day--there was never any question of that. He did what he was expected to do, and quite efficiently, too.

And "Signed, an atheist" is apropos of what? The Christians don't care what you are--they're busy getting their ham dinners and Easter bonnets and baskets all ready for tomorrow.

The world doesn't revolve around you, you see. It's a big holiday in their religious calendar, and, notwithstanding the decline in organized religion attendance in USA, there are still a lot of adherents to that faith. That's why the media is playing Jesus pictures and reporting on Christian themes.

It's the weekend, too, and two of three (expected, too) results are IN. There hasn't been a lot of polling in HI, so that could bring a few surprises, but we're not talking about a huge number of delegates (25 or so). This result, no matter what way it goes, isn't going to move any needles.

I watched MSNBC for a bit whose coverage consisted of a scroll at the bottom of the screen that showed the results, while the discussion was all about Trump.

And even as they were forced to have a little bit of integrity and show the blow out results at the bottom of the screen, in order to leave no confusion over whether MSNBC was in the bag for Hillary or not, there was equal billing for the total delegate count to this point, so no one could be lead to think that Sanders crushing defeat at tonight's caucuses were of any "real' meaning.

(MSNBC priorities: 1) talk about Trump 2) Make sure we push that Hillary is still in the lead, but don't point out that lead is starting to shrink; 3) No, that's about it ... oh, wait, yes, there's a primary happening tonight and Sanders is crushing it, so I guess we have to make mention of it somewhere on the screen, but don't think for a second we are going to talk about it, especially in any way that might make someone think it's not all over and Hillary already won.)

In Seattle at Safeco field. They wasted about 50 minutes speculating after Rachel's show was through at 9 pm central, and he hit the field at about 9:52 pm, and talked nearly exactly an hour.

He congratulated Seattle for being the first city in America to institute a $15 minimum wage, and Los Angeles and San Francisco followed. He also mentioned the Native Americans of that state as well.

I don't know why they ran a real live presidential candidate speech whom they have been studiously ignoring, instead of their Friday night prison drivel.

But I'm glad. I watched the whole thing.

And I saw a picture of one of the guys in the stands that they selected to be seen behind Bernie. His t shirt said "Muslim Voting for the Jewish Guy".

that later.

This was news to me--I didn't know the details at all:

http://hawaiidemocrats.org/presidential-preference-poll/

Question: Why do you call it a Presidential Preference Poll and not a Caucus?
Answer: Because it’s not a caucus!
The Poll has some similarities with other caucuses. The Democratic Party of Hawaii organizes and pays for the Poll. The Poll results will decide how Hawaii splits our 34 delegates to the Democratic National Convention. The polls are conducted at the local level. But unlike a caucus, the voting in Hawaii is by secret ballot.
Question: Why don’t you call it a Primary?
Answer: Because the Primary is a separate event!
The Hawaii State Primary is held August 13, 2016. The primary election is organized and paid for the State. It is also after the Democratic National Convention, so Democratic presidential candidates could not appear on the Hawaii ballot.

There's lots of stuff to watch on other channels.

Why bring in a crew and on-air talent to say "They're still casting ballots in Hawaii" for several hours? What "news" is there?

It's not that big a deal, the HI contest. It's only a couple dozen delegates.

If the "take" was a hundred delegates or more, it might be a bit more significant.

They covered the two blowouts, and then went home.

It's cheaper to have one guy running pre-recorded programming, than have a full crew of cameramen, lighting people, makeup, control booth people, etc., for a small "presidential preference poll" that isn't going to change much of anything.

It's a cost-benefit thing.

Of course they don't want it to end. They have a big vested interest in keeping the corrupt finance system going. A candidate like Bernie who is running on getting big money ouyt of elections will be blacked out as much as they can get away with.

We need a LAW requiring big media to provide campaign time FOR FREE as a condidon of being licensed to use the public airwaves. That would take the cost of elections way down, where it should be. Then, public financing for the rest.

Sun Mar 27, 2016, 09:54 AM
Mar 2016

The days after previous primaries and caucuses, there was continuous crawler running of which candidates won which states.

The corporate media conglomerates' interests don't align with those of the American People on a host of critical issues, from great income disparity, campaign finance reform, universal health care for all Americans, climate change, institutional racism, the end of perpetual war, the breaking up of major monopolies and trusts just to name a few.

The much needed reform of all those issues either adversely impact their major commercial buyers or their parent corporations which have financial interests in keeping our dysfunctional and corrupted status quo.

Thanks for the thread, mhatrw.
