Is Hillary coasting to the finish line?

According to Clinton supporters here on DU, it's all over and there is no way Bernie could deny Hillary the nomination. This would be consistent with what I saw when I caucused today in Washington. The Clinton campaign made little effort to get people to the caucus, and it was 3 to 1 in Bernie's favor. This did not seem to bother the Clinton people at all, so I'm guessing they're confident Hillary will pick up enough delegates without actually winning the remaining states. As long as she breaks even in some, and loses others by a reasonable margin, she's in.

The odd thing about this is it seems a strange way to show enthusiasm for a candidate. For weeks, Clinton supporters have been licking their lips at the prospect of the Sanders campaign shutting down, but they're not delivering the knockout punch. And the tone has changed. But is this real? Remember the movie Pee Wee's Big Adventure? "I meant to do that!" Hillary is going to cross the finish line with just a few more delegates than she needs, and her supporters are saying, "Oh, yes. This is the way we planned it all along." And there is the possibility it won't work, if today is any indication.

It was PACKED. We had no parking, shuttles from the mall, took a half an hour just to get to the table through the crowd. They had to take people to caucus outside. Lots of registering there the day of. Bunch of young students, saw kids from school, it was hot. Yelling. The bird knows posters.??? Still do not get that bird thingy.

Confilct outside. Yelling! Cries of vote fraud! Calls for prison! Just wow. Very exciting. I was just chillin. Me and my Hillpeeps were just watching them cheer. It was kinda fun.

I have relatives in Everett who said that everything was very cordial and the process was rather simple, despite the long lines. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of going to a caucus (CA primaries), but glad to hear some experiences from others. Tough loss for you guys today, should be a fun finish!

And we're making her struggle for every delegate we can. On to the convention!

two weeks ago.

The County Convention is the first step after delegates are elected the night of the caucus.

So, all of the delegates that are elected the night of the caucus are supposed to show up and represent our candidates. Well, at my County Convention in Iowa, a ton of Hillary Clinton delegates did not show up. I'm unclear of the exact # of Hillary no-shows. However, it was a significant number. She won my county by 60 delegates. But the first solid count had Sanders ahead!

The first count (after we were all credentialed was) Bernie 529; Hillary 513. It appears that about 73 of her people either decided to sleep in, or they defected to Bernie, or they just didn't support her any longer. Who knows.

This happened to Clinton in 2008. Obama was only ahead by a couple of delegates the night of the Iowa Caucus. However, by the end of the convention, Obama was ahead by several delegates in Iowa. People started to change their minds...and they defected to Obama.

There are many caucus states. It will be interesting to see if the original election-night numbers hold or not.

If Bernie has a resurgence or if delegates get Clinton fatigue (or if they don't show up), Bernie could end up gaining delegates in these caucus states as these conventions take place.

Should be interesting.
