2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumShould the National Democratic Convention be threatened with OPEN CARRY the same way...
...that some so-called Democrats right here on DU threaten state universities with CAMPUS CARRY?
I'm damn tired of seeing MY university threatened here on DU with the Domestic Terrorism of CAMPUS CARRY.
If OPEN CARRY is so damn good in the eyes of so-called Democrats who post here with impunity, then why don't Democrats allow it at their national Democratic Convention?
Why is it OK to force it on MY university, but not on your own damn Convention?

(27,787 posts)That's the point.

(6,498 posts)I just don't understand why such threats against those of us who teach at state universities are routinely tolerated here at DU.

They put you at risk.

(19,473 posts)I just don't see any connection with the national party and its convention.

(19,473 posts)Some people who consider themselves Democrats and who post here also oppose gun laws. That's offensive to me, but do we have the right to say that they are not Democrats?

(6,498 posts)Personally, I'm sick of these Zimmerman Supporters being allowed to threaten Domestic Terrorism against State Universities on a Democratic Board.
If it's good enough for Higher Education in this country, then it's good enough for the Democratic and Republican Conventions.

(17,505 posts)Neither does anyone else.... but one.
Fauxrage is not exclusive to the GOP, alas.

We happen to agree (kinda) on this point, though. Open carry is a silly, silly idea.

(10,164 posts)Does it really deserve that sort of abuse? Calling campus carry "terrorism" grotesquely devalues and insults the victims of actual terrorism. Hyperbole doesn't help your cause...

(10,164 posts)You kinda circled back to an earlier point without any real connection to that "terrorism" hyperbole. So I presume we're done here...

(10,164 posts)I mean...I suspect your actual intent was just to have somewhere other than the gungeon to post anti-gun stuff, but that ridiculous petition for the GOP convention makes your OP entirely topical for this forum.

(36,838 posts)you need to contact the authorities (as well as drop a line to the admins).
I think you are trying to sneak the gungeon into GDP, personally. I have that group blocked and have no desire to see the ramblings associated with that group. Thanks for that, stone space.
stone space
(6,498 posts)Just like threats of CONVENTION CARRY are perfectly legal.
And the threats are made outside of the gungeon with impunity.
Let's not pretend like the Zimmerman Supporters confine their antics here to the gungeon.
They stalk those of us who teach at state universities with repeated threats of CAMPUS CARRY at our universities all over DU.
SFnomad
(3,473 posts)And here you say "repeated threats" ...
If these threats are so frequent, you can link us to some of these threats ... right?

YOUR COMMENTS
> Open Carry Campus Carry In Iowa In 2016!
Creepy comment to make out of the blue when made directed towards an instructor at a state university in Iowa.
What are you trying to prove by reference to open displays of deadly weapons at specific universities where DUers teach?
Is this comment some kind of threat?
We don't threaten our fellow posters here at DU.

Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Nobody threatened anybody. And I'm against both open and concealed carry.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I don't know the intent of this post, but it is disturbing, to say the least. However, the fact that several DU members here are mocking people who are saying they are afraid and in pain... makes me upset. Open carry campus? How does that message have anything to do with the conversation at hand? Unless it is indeed intended to be threatening, or to praise the idea of an open carry campus. In either case, I vote to hide.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: not sure if one is bat shit crazy or the other is?? Leave and let Bat Man decide..

(3,473 posts)This is what you're calling a "threat" and are so disturbed about. And now posing the OP question because of it?
What a waste of my time.
