2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe Hillary Camp has crossed the line w/ this new "Bernie snapping at his wife" video...
This is truly disgusting behavior by the Clinton campaign, David Brock, and anyone who uses this video to paint Sanders in a negative light. This is the definition of a negative personal attack. It has nothing to do with the issues, and it is only meant to antagonize people and smear Bernie's name. Truly, truly disgusting.

(14,255 posts)I could never vote for or support that. Never. She and Trump sure seem to have a lot in common, don't they? Smearing marital relationships.
Almost wish Bernie was the kind of guy who would bring up the many Bill Clinton infidelities - now THAT's no way to treat a woman, I would have thought.

(1,065 posts)... from what I've seen, the video is fairly straightforward.
At best, Bernie is seen being openly dismissive to his wife.
At worst, he is seen being rude and mildly hostile to his wife.

But I don't know for sure. It isn't a big deal but Brock wants to make it so -- negative campaigning.

(24,411 posts)if Clinton agreed to do a debate in April, May and June.
That was the agreement. Clinton needed more debates (after Debbie had scheduled so few to give Hillary the advantage when she was the clear frontrunner). When her frontrunner status was in peril--she wanted more debates.
Bernie said I'll do more debates, but only if we agree to April, May and June debates.
She's a big, fat liar and an chump if she breaks their agreement.
Didn't they both sign this agreement?

Avalux
(35,015 posts)I wonder how much she paid the former conservative American Spectator writer to help her out. He once said this about Hillary:
Dangerous character flaws
Hillary Clinton set up a bogus advisory committee [while working on education reform in Arkansas] and staged an elaborate public consultation process to validate a preconceived initiative. She gave the appearance of working very much within the established political process, building consensus and seeking votes, while short-circuiting debate within her own advisory group. She also discovered the usefulness of identifying an enemy and demonizing it to galvanize public support. Thus the idea that the failure of health care reform was largely due to Hillarys political inexperience cannot be sustained.
Unfortunately for Hillary, the same tendencies and characteristics that had worked for her in Arkansas, and appeared there as strengths, when tested now in a truly partisan political environment, would reveal not just surprisingly poor judgment on her part but character flaws of a particularly dangerous and self-destructive sort.

(13,776 posts)As much as I hope that Bernie is the nominee, I know that, odds are, I'll have to vote for her. And before the primaries and her campaign pulling caca like this, I'd have done it gladly instead of begrudgingly.
But your point is absolutely undeniable. Bill Clinton's behavior, while irrelevant to his performance as president, was disgusting. I can't imagine what Hillary's campaign is thinking, opening this can of worms.
Edited to add that, to be fair, I can't blame Hillary for the words of her spokesperson. I guess.

(5,636 posts)I haven't seen the video, doubt I will, but I know about it because of Bernie supporters. Frankly, it would be best to let the video die rather than promote it because I gather, regardless of the truth, it makes Bernie look bad.

(5,636 posts)... unless they're on 24/7. At any rate, looked at the video (thanks for the link). Yeah, Bernie was a jerk, but that doesn't mean he is one. It's another example of the gotcha politics played by both sides.
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)You are, if nothing else, predictable.
Onlooker
(5,636 posts)... but that doesn't mean he is rude. It's probably along the lines of the video Bernie supporters post of Hillary ostensibly laughing while discussing a child rapist. Get used to it. Both sides play the same silly game. If you didn't think Bernie was rude in that video, then you have a very different upbringing than mine.
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)Neither do you.
He tells her "don't stand there." Someone else said she was almost on the taped down mic and sound cords.
Its just as reasonable to assume he was alarmed for her.
This ASSumption that its "disrespect "or "rude" isnt supported by the many other thousands of hours of tape where its obvious the Sanders are a loving couple.
Onlooker
(5,636 posts)... but it came off as rude. If your hypothesis is correct, he probably would have said, "Be careful." She looked sort of confused as to exactly what she should do afterwards. I hope the adulation is giving Bernie a messiah complex.

(14,177 posts)I was trying to think of this in the worst possible light so that Bernie could have his kitten eating moment. Because the way things are going right now Bernie could literally eat a kitten on stage and I would be like "I can live with that." But, yeah I should have suspected sound cords and such on a stage and people don't always know where they are.

(31,464 posts)It's not even close! He clearly says "Don't stand there." Some may think it's the same obviously Brock wants you to think so but there is no mistaking that he says "don't stand there." So the fuck what? Was he supposed to say, "My dear, would you mind it terribly if I respectfully request that you and not stand in that current location?" Ridiculous!
But hey, on the other side, they're fighting over each others wives and naked pictures and stuff. Brock's attempt to smear Bernie would be comical if it weren't so sad.

With Clinton, you don't even have to make stuff up. Bill's serial infidelities could be a miniseries -- although it would probably be rated X. And Hillary combatted it by trashing the women that Bill harassed.

2 - pushing this desperate meme shows they are trying to shore up women. They are very numbers driven. That's why they talk about us all as if we were just monolithic blocks of numbers -- "the Black vote", "women" -- that is what they look at every day and try to move. That is the scoreboard for Brock and Benenson.
btw, found the coolest tool for looking at poll data -- choose your own filters from dozens AND you can link to the results, for example this one shows AAs 18 to 34 moving dramatically to Bernie Sanders in February, but if you play with the filters you can get anything:

edit: actually, I was being a little too nice. The article I'm taking issue with posted at DU has a false quote of Bernie, not what he actually says in the video.
That should plainly illustrate the level the bias of that article writer, and everyone spreading it without first asking "is this true?"

(3,017 posts)Everybody knows it's garbage when they see it and it reminds people of who the Clintons are. It is not going to cost Bernie Sanders any support but it may be the straw that breaks the camel's back and makes some people with consciences realize they can no longer support Hillary Clinton. It is prime example of why so few people find her trustworthy and why her negatives are so high.
