Let's play a thought game: I'm a white male coworker who lied about a black female coworker.

That female coworker, who had accused our boss of sexual harassment, has now lost her job and is the center of intense scrutiny. The entire company is focused on this like a laser, most people knowing full well that what I am saying isn't really kosher.

First off I accuse her of being a bit off kilter. Like we all know something is wrong in her head, she's not crazy but maybe just a little bit..off.

Along with that I attack her for being, well, somewhat promiscuous, saying really how could we trust someone who's legs uncross so easily.

This attack works fairly well, with her losing her job and me protecting my boss.

This was 15 years ago, now before I retire and receive a severance package that will keep me comfortable for the rest of my life, I stand up at my retirement party and say "I was lying, it was wrong and I'm sorry".

Could you forgive me? Would that apology wipe away the hate and damage I had spread?

Book Author Says He Lied in His Attacks on Anita Hill in Bid to Aid Justice Thomas
By ALEX KUCZYNSKI and WILLIAM GLABERSON
Published: June 27, 2001

The author of a best-selling book that attacked the credibility of Anita F. Hill has disavowed its premise, and now says that he lied in print to protect the reputation of Justice Clarence Thomas.

David Brock, the author of the book, ''The Real Anita Hill'' (Free Press, 1993), has also suggested, in a magazine article to be published this week, that Justice Thomas used an intermediary to provide Mr. Brock with damaging information about a woman who had come forward to provide support for Ms. Hill's accusations of harassment by Justice Thomas. Ms. Hill's accusations became the focus of Senate hearings into Justice Thomas's nomination to the Supreme Court in 1991.

Mr. Brock reported that he then used the information to force the woman to retract her statements about Justice Thomas.

I voted leave it, but if there had been an option 'move it' I would have picked that.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Mar 28, 2016, 02:12 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: This post sounds phony to me. Even if it is real, I don't think a discussion about the Democratic primaries is the place to ask for advice about this situation.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: It's only race baiting if you are hungry

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.
