I smell direct coordination between MSNBC and Hillary's campaign

Sunday in a Meet the Press Interview, Chuck Todd went after Bernie in a bizarre fashion. He was showing clips from Bernie's rallies in which the crowd booed at the mention of Hillary Clinton's name. Then he showed one in February where Bernie raised his hands when the crowd started booing Hillary to quiet it. Todd says this was the last time we could find that you did that. (What an incredibly obscure and odd thing for MSNBC to be researching.) And then Todd pushed him repeatedly that if he was really going to stay in the race despite Hillary's overwhelming lead (he started with the absurd claim that Bernie needed 73% of the remaining delegates before Bernie cut him off and corrected him), would he go easier on Hillary?

Then on Monday morning, a Clinton campaign spokesperson says maybe she won't debate in New York if Bernie doesn't "change the tone", in line with what Todd had been pushing.

Last night, Chris Hayes goes after Susan Sarandon to take a Hillary Clinton loyalty oath, which she would not do despite his persistence. And today, there is a hit piece from an online rag of dubious origin asking Bernie to bring his "surrogate" Susan Sarandon in line and that intentionally misrepresents what she said.

It's clear to anybody who watches MSNBC that they are in the tank for Hillary. But I hadn't thought about the possibility of them actually coordinating for MSNBC to pursue certain lines of questioning to create stories for the campaign. So am I paranoid, or does anybody else think MSNBC might be taking instructions from Hillary's campaign on this kind of stuff?

12. I've quit watching MSNBC on my TV

I only saw those 2 interviews because there were links to them at DU. I didn't make the connection initially, but then realized 2 days in a row it had been bizarre MSNBC (considering Chuck Todd on MTP as MSNBC) interview one day, Clinton campaign talking point the next day.

Fourteen Defining
Characteristics Of Fascism
By Dr. Lawrence Britt
Source Free Inquiry.co
5-28-3

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

9. While I do not think

that MSNBC actively coordinates with the Clinton campaign, it is obvious that as a group, they actively support her. Active cooperation -- such as at the top levels of each -- is not necessary. The general tone is there. More, individuals at MSNBC have -- at the very least -- family connections with the Clinton machine.

15. But I have read a number of pieces on how Clinton operatives work the press

There was a story on one of Hillary's people emailing a reporter and offering to give a scoop in exchange for an article that described her remarks as "muscular' and was favorable overall. The reporter agreed, got the scoop and delivered the article. A couple of other articles used the same "muscular" phase the Hillary aide had been peddling.

In another situation, there was an email from a reporter (think it was the same guy) who dropped off a new computer with the latest version of Windows installed for the Clinton aide so he could pass along information.

23. all press consultants do this- try and feed very specific memes and talking points. at the most

local level- school board races, for example, the exact same thing happens. the press is overworked, they don't investigate anything, and they likely won't make up their own adjectives if they don't have to. of course Hillary has people who are great with this- so does Bernie.

Comcast Rolls Over for Hillary
By L. Brent Bozell III and Tim Graham | October 9, 2015 | 11:00 AM EDT

In June, Comcast executive vice president David Cohen hosted a $2,700-a-plate fundraiser for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. On the first weekend in October, the NBC Universal in-kind contributions really kicked in: a star turn on "Saturday Night Live," a Sunday morning interview with Rev. Al Sharpton, and a Monday town hall meeting on the "Today" program.

18. A Note of Caution

Should Hillary become the nominee I wonder if these same Hillary supporters will view the media the same way they do now? We already see them doing more Trump coverage now. What about when they start giving Hillary the Sanders treatment during the General? You do know that it will do no good to complain then but if you complained now about biased coverage you might prevent them from doing so during the General. Of course I know that won't happen because when your candidate is benefiting from biased coverage you just don't look further down the road until it's too late.

24. What is MSNBC getting in return for its role as a shill?

They don't even care about hiding the obvious slant, though there are millions like me who remember the anti-Clinton coverage 24/7 in the '90s. She's under investigation by the FBI, scandals follow her due to poor judgment (or, possibly, ineptitude)...

What makes her the anointed one? Experience means nothing if good judgment is lacking.

msnbc is owned by Comcast and GE:

Top Comcast Lobbyist Hosting Hillary Clinton Fundraiser
by Karl Bode
Thursday Jun 18 2015 08:04 EDT

With the FCC embracing new net neutrality rules and recently blocking Comcast's $49 billion attempted acquisition of Time Warner Cable, the cable giant probably isn't particularly pleased with the current administration or Democrats in general. The company's best chance at getting the current net neutrality rules scrapped lies in a 2016 President willing to appoint a new FCC boss who'll gut the rules.

The last few months of "bad news" haven't soured Comcast's top lobbyist David Cohen on Democratic candidates, however. The Philadelphia Inquirer (via Stop the Cap) notes that Cohen will host a $2,700-a-plate fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at his home in Philadelphia later this month:

quote:Comcast exec and power-broker David L. Cohen and his wife, Rhonda, are holding a midday "conversation" and fundraiser with presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton at their house June 26. Tickets are $2,700 a person, the maximum individual contribution allowed to federal candidates per election, according to a copy of the event invitation obtained by The Inquirer.

Clinton supported the FCC's decision to reclassify broadband ISPs as a utility under Title II in order to enact tougher net neutrality provisions. Personal political contributions are of course Cohen's prerogative, but it remains unclear how Cohen squares supporting a net neutrality supporting Presidential candidate when he's been at the forefront of trying to dismantle real net neutrality protections for years.

Cohen manages to consistently skirt lobbying rules -- by pretending he's not a lobbyist. The cable executive has given himself the title of "Chief Diversity Officer" at Comcast to skirt laws requiring that employees who spend 20 percent or more of their work on lobbying or related activities have to formally register as a lobbyist in Washington.

35. GE also owns MSNBC and GE is one of HRC's largest donors (ANd tax dodgers, too):

as it turns out, all ten of those same companies are some of Hillary Clinton’s biggest donors, whether to her campaign or to her family foundation.

1. General Electric

According to data from the nonpartisan group Citizens for Tax Justice (CTJ), GE posted $33.9 billion in U.S. profits, yet somehow got $2.9 billion in refunds in that same time period. According to the book Clinton Cash, then-Secretary of State Clinton lobbied the Algerian government for a GE power plant contract. After Algeria awarded the contract to GE, Jeffrey Immelt — CEO of GE — gave a donation to the Clinton Foundation. Sanders also pointed out that while Immelt sat on the board of the New York Federal Reserve, the Fed gave GE $16 billion in financial assistance.
