(46,702 posts)This co-option is business as usual. We have complained about it for years in Florida. We called them old guard Dems. They are essentially, establishment Dems who co-opt any grassroots initiative. They will infiltrate community civic groups to spread whatever message helps them in their Chamber style operations, where they work closely with Republicans and often, the city. It's all about business and money. That's why people try to accrue power, politically.
Does everyone now understand why left-leaning Floridians feel they are underrepresented by the Democrats in the state?
BTW, she is obviously recording off a mirror image. Good low-tech trick, but she should let her guests know ahead of time so they don't wear shirts with printed material.

(6,409 posts)I can't watch the video because of a slow connection, but I have a few thoughts about the way people see voting, elections, etc. I was a county election official, and I talked to people about voter fraud, election fraud, conspiracies, etc.
We had one "scandal" when a handful of people spread a conspiracy theory that we (county election officials) were up to no good because we could update their addresses when they moved from one place to another. How could we do that? How! We must have been part of some secret program to track people as they moved around the state. We must have been in league with the FBI, the CIA and the ASPCA. The fact is, we were in league with a government agency, namely the US Postal Service. If USPS had a new address for somebody, any mail we sent them would come back with a little yellow sticker and we would change their registration accordingly.
Many campaign volunteers are not aware of the way elections and caucuses work, so they see something and assume the worst. Yes, the process is definitely tilted in Clinton's favor. Yes, the party establishment will use its connections to cheat in some circumstances. No, not every result you don't understand is cheating. If you actually see something, find out what's going on, but don't assume it's underhanded. We don't want to be known for travelling in the same circles as the birthers and truthers. At least I don't.

(19,841 posts)Since you have worked in elections, your opinion of the actual video would be helpful.
You say:
"the party establishment will use its connections to cheat in some circumstances" --
"the process is tilted in Clinton's favor."
And this is OK how?

(5,400 posts)Person affiliated with promotion of the TPP getting himself in a position of authority, and then spiking progress? Sounds like you can't just hire many of these party professionals. Waiting to hear more.
"Vetting". Yes, that's today's word.
It reminds me that every time you hear a senior talking head on TV, you are seeing someone who might pay more in taxes under a President Sanders. And that goes double for the owners they work for. Their whole privileged, corporate, culture is on the line.

(10,559 posts)of people accepting checks from the Clinton Foundation, with some of them SUPPOSEDLY being employed by Bernie, despite the conflict of interest issues. It makes it look like internal sabotage.

(39,961 posts)registration flipping to prevent Sanders voters from voting in primaries, that it behooves anybody with a grain of sense to ask if the "database scandal" that lead to a Bernie Sanders campaign aide getting canned wasn't really achieving a directly opposite purpose than what the DNC claimed. They withheld rolls from him, and most certainly could decipher who was inclined to vote for him from said data.
Now, here we are in the primaries and all over the country we have people that have been life long Dems getting flipped to of all things Libertarians, Independents and non-affiliated and being forced to cast uncounted provisional ballots, or turned away altogether. Told to leave the caucus in states, which was a deceitful tactic, too.
If that doesn't make you sick as a dog, you aren't interested in an election - you are interested in stacked votes that elect who someone other than the people want to be elected.
Before you even open your mouth about "communism", you need to study history and see which 20th century regimes engaged in such practices.
