Nevada...aaarrrggghhh!

I'm a delegate to the Democratic Party county caucus this weekend, and it's truly the biggest clusterfuck I've seen in years.

First I got an e-mail instructing me to log in to register; when I did, I was told to purchase a ticket (total price, $26.62). Reading the details, I found out this charge was a 'donation' to help the party fund the convention...but there was nowhere to decline making that donation, instead a suggestion that one could contact the campaign of the candidate you are supporting to get a code so that campaign could pay the cost. I finally gave up and paid Eventbrite the money.

A few days ago I got a link to download the ticket. A quote from the e-mail: "Make sure you bring a PRINTED copy of your ticket. We cannot honor electronic tickets due to the required signed pledge." Today I got another e-mail from Eventbrite telling me to either bring my printed ticket or a mobile summary (complete with picture of cell phone)...so which is it?

I got an e-mail from the Bernie campaign telling me "The convention runs from 10am to 8pm, so plan to stay until the convention is officially adjourned to make sure your vote counts" (note: the convention is on Saturday). Last night I got an e-mail from the Clark County Democratic Party telling me "If you check-in or register as a delegate on Friday April 1st it is not required for you to be present at the convention on Saturday April 2nd." So do I need to go Friday or Saturday? Do I need to stay? Does anyone know what the hell they are doing?

Unless I hear otherwise from the campaign, I plan to register on Friday night, then go to the convention on Saturday and stay till the bitter end because I do not trust the county Democratic party to find their ass with both hands, much less run a convention.

And it's not just me, here's their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ClarkDems2016/?fref=ts

an April Fool's prank. Of course, it could be just the DWS/DLC/DNC way of saying, "Fuck you very much for your service!"

Caucus, obviously, right...

We need to do away with all caucuses, right?

Would everyone agree with that, that AFTER this round, we end them permanently?

And then there are the inexperienced volunteers that don't always know what to do.

We've already seen instances of caucus-goers leaving "too early" and their votes not being counted, at the precinct caucus level.

It's just a few more hours, worst case scenario. I agree you should not trust the county party establishment to necessarily get out the correct info. If incorrect info is initially distributed and convention attendees leave too soon based on it, there won't be any do-overs. You'll just be screwed.

Really? Because the party is screwing this up completely. If this is how you think conventions should be run I think you are wrong.

Some state campaign workers around the country are reporting conflicting information purposely being told to/sent to discourage or mislead Sanders supporters/caucus goers from canvassing, calling, rallies, caucuses, etc. (Just to be clear, bad information includes coming from within field offices.)

and they've been contacted by other people also. I plan to cover my bases and go both Friday and Saturday, and stay until the end...as I said, they are so disorganized it will be a miracle if they get anything approaching an accurate count.

count of delegates - some failed to provide the necessary registration form - some failed to turn in the forms or turned in the wrong part of the multi-part (really? We're still doing carbon copies?) form . . .

I think clusterfuck is putting it mildly.

Stay strong.

The fact that they're telling you about Saturday not being required sends a red flag to me. I'd bring phones to capture anything strange Friday night and I'd be suspicious of any info they wanted from registration (I'm very distrustful of anything at this point). I'm checking more on this (I hope you don't mind) and if I find anything more back I'll get back to you. Good Luck!
