However, nearly all of the lobbyists hired by the Clinton campaign to bundle campaign contributions come from the fossil fuel industry, as noted by the Huffington Post. Greenpeace estimates that the Clinton campaign has bundled over $1.2 million with help from industry-affiliated lobbyists.
To her credit, Clinton has pledged to make addressing climate change a core focus of her administration should she win the nomination and the presidency. But as the Huffington Posts Paul Blumenthal and Kate Sheppard pointed out, her deep ties to extractive industries will likely throw a wrench into the gears of any climate mitigation agenda:
A list of 40 registered lobbyists that the Clinton camp disclosed to the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday revealed a number of Democratic Party lobbyists who have worked against regulations to curb climate change, advocated for offshore drilling, or sought government approval for natural gas exports .
Scott Parven and Brian Pomper, lobbyists at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, have been registered to lobby for the Southern California-based oil giant Chevron since 2006, with contracts totaling more than $3 million. The two bundled Clinton contributions of $24,700 and $29,700, respectively. They have helped Chevron over the years resist efforts to eliminate oil and gas tax breaks and to impose regulations to reduce carbon emissions.

(39,961 posts)She does not mention any political affiliation, merely asks if Hillary Clinton will keep her commitments on climate change by rejecting donations from the fossil fuel industry.
So yes, that was, in fact, a huge leap.

(5,402 posts)It's the oil money, as shown in this OP, that she accepts and denies she accepts.
Should she accept money from the oil industry? Should she accept tens of millions of dollars in "speaking fees" (cough - bribes - cough) from companies that are working to increase wealth disparity?
Once you answer those questions, then we can worry about whether her lack of grace and poise qualifies as "berserk".

Should Clinton be accepting money from an industry that is promoting the destruction of the climate?
I know you will respond with something silly without actually grappling with that fundamental issue, so let me give you a hint to the moral, ethical and intelligent answer to the question.
She shouldn't.

Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Super PAC supporting her have received more than $4.5 million from the fossil fuel industry.

(39,961 posts)The Greenpeace activist identified herself as such. She was about to say that she doesn't take donations from fossil fuel companies, then obfuscated to say that she accepts donations from individuals who work for fossil fuel companies.
When she realized she was getting tripped up, she stuck her finger in the Greenpeace activist's face, yelled at her about Bernie Sanders and ranted.
She was asked a very good question about climate change, tried to hedge, and got irate.
