2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDC ballot filed day late, Robert Brannum filed a complaint after, his response included...
Robert Brannum an alleged pro-Clinton political activist had this to say about the DNC's "minor administrative error".
To complicate matters, a man has submitted a challenge to Sanders being included on the list of candidates despite his late paperwork. Robert Brannum claims that Sanders being included on the list and ultimately being put on the D.C. ballot in the face of the missed deadline is a clear violation of D.C. rules and that no exceptions should be made.

(2,345 posts)If you look at his Twitter feed, he paints himself as a strong advocate for women's rights. Dude was kicked out of the Air Force, though, as a result of sexual harassment charges against him. He's been part of demonstrations advocating for voting rights, but is now attempting to deny every other Democrat in D.C. the opportunity to vote for anyone besides Hillary Clinton.
Interesting.

(1,306 posts)...they are a branch of the DNC. They received both the required paperwork and $2,500 filing fee from both candidates ahead of the deadline, yet they somehow filed Sander's paperwork too late.

But I'm sure your experience has been different.

(130,714 posts)D.C. Democratic Party Chairwoman Anita Bonds told The Washington Times that the partys primary plan, which included the paperwork for all candidates, was submitted by 7 p.m. on the 16th. The D.C. Board of Elections offices closes at 4:45 p.m.'

2 HOURS LATE.

(12,629 posts)The paperwork for the candidates was submitted by 7 pm...it wasn't handed over to the Board of Elections till the next day.
Looks like it's been done this way for a long time:
"...But, Bonds said, the party's deadline is a few hours after the Board of Elections closes, so her staff typically delivers the filings the next day.
"This has been kind of a tradition in the District of Columbia, that the party would notify the board the following day," Bonds said.

(130,714 posts)and confusing for everyone, often.
I lived in DC for 20+ years, and am quite used to bureaucratic confusion, personal/business/political.
Thanks for catching this from Bonds.
