2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhere do people get his idea Bernie is winning NY?
All of his past wins were predicted to go for him. NY however is expected heavily for Hillary, and the margin is just too big to overcome. Clinton is very popular in NYC and the rest of the state, she is likely to win it by 15+ points, will there be cries of fraud when that happens?

(751 posts)Sanders +13
NY Poll 3 weeks out, Clinton +10.
Why can't Bernie move the needle again by +13 for 3 point win?
dchill
(38,462 posts)She is NOT likely to win by 5 points, let alone 15. What has happened to her "leads" in the last 6 primaries/caucuses?
Answer that. THEN strut.
But no one is calling Bernie a NYer. He isn't by any stretch. She is likely to win by at least 10 most likely 15+. Polls show it.

(8,976 posts)He was fucking born there. He was raised there. He lived there til his 2nd year of college. She carpetbagged in to grab an easy seat in congress. After her home states of Illinois, Arkansas, And Washington DC. And SHE'S the New Yorker???
dchill
(38,462 posts)She ran for Senator just so she could run for President. I'm not even a New Yorker, and I can see through that. Wow, you named a post office. So great.
Ambition for its own sake is so narcissistic. Fooling a New Yorker is not easy, and never forgotten.

(4,205 posts)Have you actually watched the total lack of accuracy in the polls so far........... Maybe you had best take a look at how badly they have performed to date, would hate to have bet anything on them..If you want to cheer the hill on go for it but maybe you should you something else to "prove" her supremacy.

brush
(53,759 posts)The editorial board of the New York Dailly News published and interview with Bernie Sanders.
It didn't go at all well for him.
It was not a cover, it was a policy interview and a major fail for Sanders.
SheenaR
(2,052 posts)And I know exactly what you are talking about.
BillZBubb
(10,650 posts)No, all his wins were not predicted to go for him. And many that he's won he got much larger margins than predicted.
Hillary isn't winning NY by 15%. She'll be lucky to win it at all.
Is this a joke? She is a shoo in to win NY. Margins are irrelevant. Any win by her puts Sanders out of the race.
BillZBubb

(89,244 posts)No one cares about that. He's seen as a Vermonter and not a NYer. Hillary will eat him alive if he tries to pull that. And so will NY.

(369 posts)He's not a NYer. Hillary is more of a NYer than he is. Being born there doesn't count.
Are not especially bright.
for Bernie in NY. Not enough college kids and no independants. NY is Clinton country. She is VERY popular there.

HassleCat
(6,409 posts)But Hillary was set to win WI at one point, then down only a couple points a couple days ago. So she should win her home state by at least ten points. We do know what "home state" means, right? A lukewarm victory in NY could pose problems for her, with CA still on the horizon. If she wants to finish off Bernie, she should plan on 15 points at the very least.
Is going to break for for Hillary, Polls consistently show that as well.
HassleCat
(6,409 posts)Because those polls have been so deadly accurate so far.
scottie55
(1,400 posts)Must be.
Kalidurga
(14,177 posts)It's like you don't read the news or look at the poll numbers a couple weeks before every state Bernie has won thus far. 15 points isn't enough to ensure Hillary is going to win. In fact after the news that has come out lately has a chance to sink in people's noggins she will be lucky if she only loses by a couple points.
TMontoya
(369 posts)Bernie is done in NY and the debate will hurt him even more. Sorry but your precious idies will have no say in a real primary.
Kalidurga
(14,177 posts)And Bernie is still hanging in there. Hillary is toast. Not the Jesus kind just regular toast.
TMontoya
(369 posts)2 million more votes 200 delegate lead and a solid lead in NY PA and MD. Shes cruising, and will easily pick up a solid win in NY. Not possible for him to close the gap.
Kalidurga
(14,177 posts)Since real life isn't bound to follow your wishes and polls change so there is that.
TMontoya
(369 posts)Sorry I don't support Sanders.

According to states she is winning by over 2 million votes and over 200 delegates.

I think the people of New York are smarter than that.
I am sure the billionaires appreciate the help they get from the Clintons, and Fox News.

scottie55
(1,400 posts)That is a trend.
Red Oak
(697 posts)Heck, they pay her over half a million dollars to whisper sweet nothings in their ear behind closed doors.
SheilaT
(23,156 posts)Nate Silver gave Hillary a 99% chance of winning, and that she'd get 60% of the vote. You might want to look up the actual results.
Oh, and Kansas. She was supposed to win the Kansas caucuses. The actual result? Bernie totally blew her away.
So there is no way on god's green earth she's going to win NY the way things are going, let alone by 15 points.
And the best Bernie was given in Wisconsin was something like maybe 2 or 3 percent on her. In reality his win is by 13%. So he has been out-performing the polling by huge amounts for quite a while now.
TMontoya
(369 posts)She has NY in the bag. Im sorry if you believe all the hype but reality and math are relevant here.
SheilaT
(23,156 posts)She had Michigan in the bag. And Kansas. And Wisconsin. And New Hampshire.
Plus, of course, her desperation is showing with the announcement that she's lost patience and is really going to go after him now. And she can't raise even a fraction of the money he's been raising -- his from small donations, hers from big-dollar events only open to a few. That's not a way to persuade average voters you really are looking out for them.
paulthompson
(2,398 posts)Sanders beats the polls by a fair amount in almost every state outside the South! Look at this list:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511617438
I heard someone recently ran the numbers and figured out that he beats the final polls by an average of 13 points outside the South. Tonight in Wisconsin he "only" beat the Real Clear Politics final poll average of 2.5 points by 10 points.
SheilaT
(23,156 posts)to extrapolate forward to figure out how he'll do in the remaining primaries. I could contact a former math teacher of mine who's a Bernie supporter, but he's retired, and it seems rude to ask him to do math like that. Although I have a son who's a strong math person, and he might be able to figure it out for me.
In any case, as you've pointed out, he continues to do vastly better than the pre-primary or pre-caucus polls. Plus, since the Hillary delegates apparently weren't real committed to her, about half of them never showed up at the second round of that state's caucus process, flipping Nevada and changing delegate counts there. Makes me wonder if that will happen in any other of the caucus states.
scottie55
(1,400 posts)Everyone knows she supported helping them create the tax havens.
She is on record supporting the Tax Haven Creation bill for Panama.
Hillary thinks paying taxes is only for working Americans it appears.
