In Wyoming Bernie has failed to meet 538's delegate target; Hillary has exceeded hers.

Last edited Sat Apr 9, 2016, 06:51 PM - Edit history (1)

538 has calculated delegate targets for each state, based on demographics. The target delegate count is how many delegates each candidate would have to obtain to maintain their relative position in the race. Candidates must exceed their targets to improve their relative position.

Bernie needed to do better than his target, which was 9. Instead he got 7.

Hillary needed 5 delegates to meet her target. She also got 7.

So they tied -- and this isn't good enough for Bernie.

(This doesn't count the super delegates, who have endorsed Hillary.)

When you have a great campaign strategy, team and foundation going in.

Hillary knows how to get things done, and they have put in the time and effort since the beginning to win.

this is a bad day for Sanders. Gaining zero delegates in a caucus state hurts. One more delegate opportunity off the table

to close that gap -- which is larger, by the way, than Obama EVER had over her.

Bernie's almost run out of caucus states with few black voters -- his area of special strength.

Now the election is moving to large, diverse states like New York, with plenty of African Americans.

And those contests are primaries, and most require registration as a Democrat.
