Bill Maher: "Hillary’s new slogan should be: 'Eat the Chicken.'"

Bill Maher had Susan Sarandon on hie show last night:

There was this insightful and hilarious exchange about the Democratic primary:

Maher:
“I'm also a Bernie Sanders supporter. I have been saying for months on this show, 'until it's not, that's who I'm for.' You know he's putting on the table a what I call a 'New Deal.'
Sarandon:
“It is. It's the new old 'New Deal.'"
Maher:
"You pay more in taxes, but look at what you get."
Sarandon:
"And many other things: you protect the environment, you don't get connected to Wall Street, you don't take Big Pharm money, you don't take all the money from Montsanto."
Maher:
"I have also been saying that if the airline cannot board your first choice, eat the chicken. That should be Hillary’s slogan: Eat the Chicken. Are you going to eat the chicken?”
Sarandon:
“I’m a vegetarian.”

This is a GREAT interview. Both Hillary supporters and Sanders supporters will enjoy it.

PS - I'm voting for Sanders, but if the airline doesn't offer my first choice, I will eat the chicken.

Not as good as some international carriers (I.e. Emirates, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM) but their coach and premium economy service is solidly good in my experience and they aren't subsidized like Emirates either. That looks like the Delta One menu, which is business or first class.

Sorry, commercial av geek out moment.

I don't understand what being a "staunch neutral Democrat" means.

But I'll give it a shot.

Perhaps it means distilling politics down to rooting for the red or white team in sports, where a "staunch neutral white team member" by definition votes "white party lines", and defines that vote as being the epitome of "mature behavior".

Perhaps you might look for deeper content in your Poli-Sci research?
Or maybe even some content?

Hillary Clinton's man of the hour.

He pushed the loyalty oath repeatedly, then acted horrified when Sarandon said Obama abandoned the grass roots. Maher claims he is a Bernie supporter, but my guess is that he wants to keep his low taxes and will pull the lever for Hillary when he is casting his vote. How many real Bernie supporters push people over and over on whether or not they will vote for Hillary if she is the nominee?

please say you will vote for Hillary peeps on ignore. It is not like they want to talk about issues; they are basically telling me that the issues are not important. So, no actual reason to see them. No matter how flowery and convoluted the loyalty oath demand is.

Last April he came out for Hillary. He called BLM idiots for attacking her. He just told Repubs (and the rest of the political world) to accept President Hillary. He has said he's neutral as well but I think he can't help himself and every now and then he speaks the truth.

to give Hillary a million dollars - turned out it was a million dollars worth of advice.

Maher wants, in no particular order - to hedge his bets, to protect his wealth, to be on the winning side, and ratings.
He is like, IMO and all that, a more liberal and genial Dennis Miller. Different on the issues, obviously, but wants to cross the line from comedian to political influence.

Along with people who say we've got two great candidates and they'll be happy with either one. That's how my Ignore list is up to about 600. Anybody who claims there isn't an enormous difference between Bernie and Hillary is either ignorant or a Hillary supporter. In either case, they're not going to post anything on real issues that is worth reading.

He's oily to the point of being a twin to David Brock, broke off and taking different career paths.

I fell in love with Sarandon.

Maher: "That should be Hillary’s slogan: Eat the Chicken. Are you going to eat the chicken?”
Sarandon: “I’m a vegetarian.”

And it's a terrible argument. The reason it's a terrible argument is Hillary would still have a 60% lead over Bernie if she was even a half way decent candidate. I would have been on the band wagon early and loud if this was the case. I would see no reason to switch from Hillary to Bernie. However, she isn't a decent candidate so I was never on her side. I was hoping someone would come along to run against her and I wasn't really picky about who. I was an early O'Malley fan and then I gave Bernie a listen to and switched from O'Malley to Bernie. If neither of them had come up to bat then I would have been a Lincoln Chafee supporter. If it was between Hillary and Jim Webb, I would have been a Vermon Supreme supporter. And this is all despite the fact that I would really love to see a woman President in my lifetime.
