my department was replaced by H1B visa personnel when I was 58
Hillary Clinton is on record for supporting increasing the number of H1B visas. I never worked again.
I was offered a new position which I did turn down, I was offered a job in India for 1/3 less pay and a lot less benefits to manage the Indian workers that they would have when they moved the IT department over there after they laid off all departments. Did I mention I was 58 with a mother that was ill and depended on me?
exactly why should I support her?
Edited to add detail
Sorry to hear that happened to you, it should never have come to that..unnecessary but
it does spell out how Americans are sold out.
Until we stop electing "Democrats" who facilitate this kind of off shoring. We are so afraid of Republicans that we tolerate Republican behavior from our party, as long as it's incrementally less egregious. We are in a sorry state. On edit: I'm sorry to hear how you were sold out, and at such a critical time in your life. These are the consequences of our dancing with wealthy donors. Real shit happens to real people.
I was raised by parents who starved as children in the depression, they drove into my head to save save save. I lived on savings until 62. I also was the manager of a y2k project as a consultant paid hourly, gave up one year of my life to save money, worked 6 days a week for at least 12 hours a day. When you do that you can't actually find time to spend money. My one regret with that was missing the last healthy year of my Mom.
Funny thing though, one guy I had worked with for a few years as an H1B visa person, got his green card. He was laid off and replaced. He was one of the most skilled people that they would really miss, he was the exception though, most H1B people were just normal people who worked for less money.
unable to spend time with your mother in her last year. Thank you for sharing your experience. So many people are unaware of what is taking place rapidly in America and the world, and that must change, NOW.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) 2007 Global Alumni Conference -- Santa Clara, California, July 6, 2007. Hillary Clinton reassured the Indian lobbyists and American corporations that she supports an expanded H-1B visa program. Clinton casually disregarded the qualified and talented Americans who are being displaced by the cheap, young, and mostly male, H-1B visa holders.
Hillary Clinton also said she could run for the Senate in Punjab to Indian audiences. There are many Threads here on her extensive work and support of Indian and Chinese H1-B Visa holders for domestic work in the US and that growing and very well funded industry.
and the reality is that is an incremental slide into Third World status that will continue to enrich the one percenters like Hillary.
They had to train their replacements to get severance. He was 63 at the time & hasn't found work since. Recruiters call & want to know if he can relocate to another state for a 6 month contract position. Seriously, I wonder if the Tiny House movement isn't part of the plan - a mobile workforce living on substandard wages, moving from state to state. Here's your 300 square foot house on wheels, now be happy. Oh & work, work, work.
I won't know until I have my ballot in front of me if I can vote for her.
Part of me thinks that if she gets in I will wretch every day. Added bonus... Her well oiled machine will hit the ground running to push back on the 99%. It may take the clowns on the right a year or two to get organized. It's all bad in my eyes. Almost equally so. Her inability to answer a question or to keep the facts of the past straight are more than a concern!
reasons not to support her.
What good has Hillary Clinton done?
