and many of the assertions in the book have been debunked.
The Clintons may be flawed, but let's not turn to the
right wing smear machine.

(3,017 posts)Chris Ruddy of NewsMax and James Murdoch of Fox have both given the Clinton Foundation contributions of between $1 million and $5 million, as shown on the Clinton Foundation website. Yet if anybody cited a story on the Clintons from NewsMax or Fox News, the Clinton supporters at DU would be screaming "right wing source!" If they're so rotten, why are the Clintons taking money from them?
I think most of us are capable of sifting through information to figure out what is credible and what isn't. Unfortunately, the mainstream corporate media won't do its job and look into the Clinton Foundation.

(113,047 posts)Why do YOU think Murdoch makes sure to be SEEN donating to Dem politicians even as his network is using BILLIONS of dollars worth of airtime undermining and trashing that same Den lawmaker?
My guess - turnip truck or runofthemill seventhsonitis.

(14,255 posts)We have been saying that the GOP is going to go after Hillary with a vengeance - and she gives them so very many opportunities, it seems. You are not their audience.
Personally, I will have no sympathy for her. She knew this sort of thing would happen. She knew this stuff would adversely affect down-ticket Dems. That is on Hillary and the DNC.
And it certainly will not have any effect on my non-support.
Scurrilous
(38,687 posts)Or for Obama w/ the birther etc etc attacks?
The right-wing plans to rabidly attack whomever the Democratic party nominates, Bernie included.
And there's no reason to regurgitate their swill here.
Among options for the disaffected, there's non-support and support for the other side. This OP is the latter.

(14,255 posts)I thought the birther stuff was ridiculous, but - back then I was a vociferous Hillary supporter. Never bought into or brought up the birther stuff.
Present day - I look at issues and past deeds. For me, Hillary fails in that regard, and Bernie gets an A+ with extra credit. Wars, fracking, means-testing Social Security, resounding no to Single Payer - really, those are not Democratic values.
And - don't you think it is best to know what swill is being flung? I seem to remember nasty crap about Bernie being flogged here, under the sweetly helpful guise of "this is what the GOP would be saying, so get prepared." Bullshit.

(23,664 posts)The M$M will not touch this bogus foundation with a 10 foot pole. Something has scared them off.
And the Obama administration is negligent in its oversight if not complicit.
Yet there is something really stinky about this whole pay to play scam.

I had a friend who showed me this doc, and although I could object to the over-dramatic framing of every accusation ("...and then Bill AND Hilarry Clinton both arrived in Argentina!". I pointed out that a husband and wife travelling together is hardly the basis for a conspiracy...), but I didn't know what to say about the basic accusation being leveled: massive donations made to the Clinton foundation in exchange for access to Hillary during her tenure as SoS that resulted in rulings favourable to the donating parties. "Pay to play", as the accusation goes.
So if anyone knows of a site that specifically debunks the claims made in this film, rather then vague remarks about not being able to trust the source, please share! I would like to be able to counter the smears with some cold hard facts...
<on edit> never mind. All you have to do is search "Clinton Cash debunked" and literally dozens of sites come up, including the interview where the books' author basically admits he has no hard evidence for his allegations. I'll tell my friend what I found, not that it will likely make any difference to him...
