Democratic party insists on maintaining suicide pact with Republican party
Barney Fucking Frank has been named chair of the rules committee. A fucking banker will be writing the party platform.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() At one time I had hoped the party could be reformed from within, but by 2018 I expect the Sanders movement to have established a third party, of which I will become a member.

1. IF there is enough will to establish a viable so called "third" party, there should be
enough will to take control of the Green Party and make it viable. It's already on the ballot in most states and has (some) name recognition (very costly to build overnight) and is the only "third" party in the US with an international affiliation. However, I have my doubts about the ability of the left to unify sufficiently to make any "third" party viable.

3. Taking control of the green party to make it viable
Is a bit like that local building that has had 10 restaurants in it in the last 5 years. ...why would a new Benie party want to waste time overcoming green's baggage, redefine what green is, and overcome years of failure?

2. That is a bit disingenuous...calling Barney Frank a banker
Is like calling Hillary a lawyer....he's been a pro politician since the early 1970's...

15. Well, it was a "slink." Lately, when I say "link or slink" some posters actually have had the crust
to do neither. DU used to be better than that.

10. Ultimately..
I think that's what they want (the establishment).. it will become next to impossible to overtake them once they can marginalize us to a "tea party" contingent.. I say primary from within like DWS is about to face, keep pulling all together to the left.. we need more people to become aware of the issues at hand - unfortunately even at this point the vast majority are still in the dark on the issues that the party is facing.. their just lazy voters that go with the flow - that flow must be disrupted (from within).

12. It has been going in that direction for a while. Marginalize "the left of the left" and the "right
Last edited Fri May 6, 2016, 08:46 AM - Edit history (1) of the right," with relative confidence that those two groups will not join with each other and meld the center right of both parties into one. It's party realignment time.
I think the two groups can, however, join around issues like fracking, if we can ever get out from other the demonization and brainwashing and help each other out of same. |

13. I no longer consider Republicans as my opponents
My opponents, my enemies, and the people who are the greatest impediment to progressive change are the constituency that is represented by Hillary Clinton. I believe we will find common cause with the disaffected right.

14. Common causes as opposed to common cause.
I don't think the people in Flint fought that crap water on the basis of Republican or Democrat, left versus right. And the people who fought it had a lot more in common with each other than they did with the rich and/or powerful.
Cause by cause is how we have to start. No, how we have to start is what I've been trying to do on DU since I joined, without ever having framed it that way: we have to start telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Example of not telling the truth: Pretending everything bad came from Republicans and only Republicans. Example of telling the truth: showing it was both parties. See, for example, this article by Pierce and my two replies on that thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=7809894 http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=7809899 http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=7809902 |

16. Like I've said, this isn't a war of political parties anymore. This is a class war.
I know who my enemies are.

19. It is, but the class that helps the oligarchy maintain power
is the class that has to start to understand the consequences of the neoliberal mindset of war and wealth extraction. The enabling class, that is a bit more amorphous making them more difficult to identify. Observe the DU community, there is a group of people, the board enforcers (bullies) whose sole purpose is to viciously attack, often as a gang, policy positions that were the main planks of Democratic platforms. These enforcers do the bidding of the .01%. But they call themselves Democrats. That's why the D and R labels have become practically meaningless.
