Trump as Unifier: Are Hillary Clinton and Neoconservatives Ready to Join Forces?

http://www.commondreams.org/news/2016/05/05/trump-unifier-are-hillary-clinton-and-neoconservatives-ready-join-forces

'Neocon elites are probably the likeliest faction to defect to Clinton, and what they'd want is blood-curdling aggressiveness overseas and Benjamin Netanyahu in charge of Middle East policy.'

As Donald Trump is declared the presumptive Republican nominee for president, members of the neoconservative establishment, disgusted by the prospect of Trump in the White House, appear to be heading into the welcoming arms of someone more sympathetic to their imperial worldview: Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

Steve Schmidt, a prominent Republican strategist and former senior aide to Sen. John McCain, is just one of several political insiders to have made the case over the last couple days – and he has done so repeatedly while speaking as a contributor for MSNBC.

"I have faith that Clinton’s foreign policy would align with what I’m looking for, and she would have my vote."
—unnamed American Enterprise Institute staffer

couldn't give a crap about social issues, identity politics or any of the rest of it. They're just pretty sure that those issues act as a great distraction from what they are up to.

They just put on a dog-and-pony-show that suggests otherwise for the benefit of that pesky public who have the potential to resist their grand plan for the world.

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has said that he will not vote for Donald Trump OR Hillary Clinton. I suspect that he will not be the last. If the Libertarian Party nominates someone with good name recognition, I suspect that there will be a significant defection of neo-cons to the Libertaians as a protest vote.
Rght wing Christian neo-cons will go with the Constitution Party as an alternative or right wing former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes' American Independent Party.
President Obama got 7% of the Republican vote in 2012.
