I called the Kentucky Sec. of State office this morning....oh my!

I called to tell them I was disappointed in the outcome/integrity of the election under Alison Grimes. I said it did not matter who I support. What matters is that she made a comment it was 'her job' to deliver Kentucky to Hillary Clinton, and then last night she stated she had "glitches". Then they accidentally zeroed out Pike County! Once you do that, you cannot accept electronic numbers, without verifying with a larger audit. Or full count of the county. I told her I felt Alison failed at her job, and it was awful on the heels of MA, IL, AZ, NY, DE, NV, MD, AND NOW KY. As in K-Y shenanigans!

Here is what I was told. "We do not talk about elections, and you must call the Kentucky Democratic Party." I replied, "But Alison does talk about elections, as it's her job! "Not really the deliver part for Hillary, but she came out and told us she had glitches and Pike County was zeroed out. She is in charge of the election in the entire state! Of course she speaks on elections!
She replied, "this is a Kentucky Democratic Party issue, and you must call them."

I replied "the job of the Kentucky Democratic Party is to GOTV. Once the voters enter your voting space, they are your responsibility. Not 'the party'. Why would I call them? It's NOT their issue! Again, I stated they get the voters to come out to vote, but what happens while voting, and counting the vote, is up to the state, not the party! She again replied, "it's the democratic party, and you must call them."

I said thank you, I will, and I'm also now glad Alison is not a U.S. senator. This is a glimpse of her lack of accountability and passing a buck. Please tell her I said so.

Then I called the Kentucky Democratic Party.

Ohhhh my. The lady on the phone was very nice and calm. She was stunned that I was told by the Sec. of States office in KY, to contact them. I told her what I said about who's job is what, and once people go into vote, the 'party' has nothing to do with the outcomes, glitches, or zeroing out of counties by mistake! She said of course!

So I said, well, I want to know exactly what happened, and what is being done about it under Kentucky state law. She said, "but you already know that we can't answer that, it's up to Alison Grimes and the state law." I then said my real purpose was to call and make them aware of Alison's office passing me off to them.
They didn't like it at all.
She told me she was contacting them right away to ask why in the world they are telling people they can't talk about elections, when that is their job, and why are they telling people to call the Kentucky Democratic Party???

Feel free to see if it did any good. Call Alison Grimes office and ask how it's going, and how they are rectifying it all.

IF...you are told to call 'the party, call them and let them know they're still doing this. Democracy thanks you.

I am very disappointed in our election process in general, and in the fact that it is extremely hard to trust the results.

Mary Sue, however, was helpful, open, and so forth. Good customer service, and this "customer" didn't know what else to ask for, so that's my fault.

If precinct election officers in any election report errors to the county clerk, it is the clerk's duty to file with the Circuit Court requesting a recount: http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/KRS/120-00/017.PDF

In that case, the state pays. I would think this definitely applies to counties where the vote was zeroed out, and possibly also to Fayette, where there a memory card failed.

There are a lot of nice people in the Secretary of State's office. I guess you got the one who wasn't, but c'est la vie.

I've said for weeks it was going to be very close in Kentucky, and I was right. I guess I wished Bernie won, but the delegate system makes it so inconsequential. One delegate might flip if they do a recount, which they likely will, but that many votes aren't going to be found magically. It just doesn't happen all that often.

It need to be a win for Clinton because they did not want a narrative that Sanders was winning all the primaries at end. It is all about the optics and nothing else. So KY was so close that it was the easiest one to tip over to her column even though the primary did not matter. They need to not have a Sanders win in rest of the primaries because of the plan the DNC has for how convention is going to go with one candidates under a serious FBI investigation. The DNC can not afford a Sanders win no matter what so have to set stage for a 3rd person to swoop in and "save" us all from evil Trump after HRC can not longer continue into the GE.

That is wrong. I got all the wrong info from the office. So I did what she told me to do, call the party. Read the op again. Again, failures right up to who answers the phone, and gives out the very important info. Also, the party DID contact Grimes office to ask why in the world they are doing that. So they then told them what to say on the phone, real procedures, under Kentucky state statutes.

I'd say Sanders has lots of attorneys for supporters. What's up with the phone calls....yeah, just leave it up to them, after they say it got all fucked up.

I would just give it a rest with the shenanigans canard. The election fraud bit is just old and played out. If the national parties really could indiscriminately change the vote --- why did they let Trump win or even Obama in 2008?

It comes off to random people, that whenever Bernie loses there is always some excuse. His fans just don't show up to the polls in great enough numbers to defeat Hillary.

Grimes stated her "job" was to get Hillary elected. That is not her 'job'. She is paid by tax dollars, to ADMINISTER ELECTIONS IN KENTUCKY.

Even the lower jobs in her office, the girl answering the phone is on tax dollars for pay, and tell me to call the party? No joke on me. I know what the rules and their jobs are. I got them to correct their mistakes. Her office is a big failure on the tax payer dime.

Joke on me? Don't think so. What I did was effective and that's why I did it. I stopped the runaround. They finally gave the girl answering the phone a correct statement of procedures under Kentucky statutes.

Another office failure she had to correct. These are tax dollars honey.
