Bernie's Tone Deafness

By now, we're all familiar with the racially dismissive connotations of Bernie's claims that he didn't even try to win in the South, and that those states "distorted" the process. We also heard in his statement last night his odd assertion that his campaign has held events in "high crime" areas, which is language we would call dog-whistle if used by a Republican.

I was thinking, though, that we've missed one of the biggest examples of Bernie's dismissal towards voters of color:

He has said all along that he is staying in until the last vote is counted, and talks ad nauseum about California..... except California isn't the last primary. That would be Washington DC, which is not only expected to be terrible terrain for him, but features a tremendously diverse electorate.

I don't know if it's just convenience, but the way Bernie talks as though DC isn't even on the schedule falls right into the narrative of him running a campaign centered on white voters and white concerns.

Why hasn't this been picked up on more?

2. Funny how all the newbies changed the subject to race, all at once, once the other lies failed.

your posts. How about concentrating on the flaws in your own house? How about starting to mend fences, finding points of commonality, finding ways to reach out and smooth the waters dividing the two camps?

How about that? I mean would you rather have a half a party or a whole party? Would you rather have a much better chance of winning in November, and then enjoying a Progressive year to come, or would you rather take the chance of losing the election and then losing even if you win - because if Democrats just help get Republican-appealing programs enacted, they haven't really done that much for us, have they?

What he is doing is just destructive to the party, he wouldn't even call himself a Democrat until
convenient to run for president. He should have run as a Socialist.

13. Realistically, DC is very unlikely to matter.

California with its 475 delegates is really his last shot. Unless he's within 20 delegates of a majority the following Tuesday (which is highly unlikely), DC can't do anything for him. The race will effectively be over the previous Tuesday, when CA votes (along with others).
