Two possible reasons I havent see discussed as to why Hillary reneged on CA debate.

1 - It's very possible that after such a long primary she is too exhausted to debate. Unlike Bernie who has built up reserves of stamina from his years doing long-distance running, Hillary just doesn't have the same reserves. If you recall, Huma commented in an email how annoyed she was that Hillary often complained of how exhausted she was. If Hillary felt continually exhausted back then when she was SoS how would it be different now? I'm not saying she has zero energy but it is possible that it's flagging.

2 - The other reason for backing out of the debate is that all her energy is being focused on prepping and being coached for the FBI interview. Answers need to be carefully crafted and that takes time.

1. Her time is better spent elsewhere. Bernie lost. Hillary is focusing on the GE now.

Hahahaha!

Fantasy land. The reason they've been so desperately begging Bernie to quit is they knew this shitstorm would hit before June 7th. The storm has hit. "Inevitable" is now "evitable."

5. 3 - realistic political calculation...nothing to be gained for anyone

And I don't use the phrase "political calculation" in a negative way. We're in the home stretch and she's up by 8 lengths, if not more. Unless she has a complete total implosion, it's over...and I say this as a "voted for Bernie in the primary" guy.

Re: stamina. Hard to imagine. Having worked with a fair number of senior leaders in a couple Fortune 50 companies, folks like her don't have stamina. They have "habits of stamina" that far exceed what most of us think of as stamina. It's the non-sports version of "just do it". Get up in the morning, "do it" all day...sleep...do it again tomorrow. And it never stops. IMHO, her habits of stamina have enough inertia that she's like the energizer bunny. Tired - maybe. Losing stamina - I don't think so.

Re: FBI interview. Yeah, maybe a time suck and I'm not buying that it's enough of an issue to influence the debate. After the 11 hours of Benghazi Circus, the FBI will be straight forward (less political, more legal, probably more fact based vs. ideology based).

So my vote is #3...there's no upside for her (especially on FOX...lol). I know she said she would debate in California so some might say this is a flip-flop from her previous commitment but ask yourself a question...If Bernie was sensible about how to approach his endgame, he wouldn't be pushing this one and there would be no issue.

sure she doesn't take any chances that could result in her unfavorables increasing even more before the last primaries are completed.
