SANTA FE, N.M. Five different times, aides tried to drag him away from the booth where Josh Brody, a 24-year-old supporter of Bernie Sanders, was holding forth about all that had gone wrong in the 1990s: welfare, NAFTA, Wall Street.
Other people are waiting, one staffer said, stepping forward.
I think were gonna agree to disagree here, guys, he tried again.
All right, Mr. President. These folks are waiting, a second aide said.
But for more than 30 minutes, Bill Clinton stayed to argue every point, turning a routine retail stop at Tia Sophias, a Mexican restaurant here in Santa Fe, into a one-on-one debate with Brody, a recent graduate of New Yorks New School, who said he supported Hillary Clintons Democratic challenger. For the next few weeks then Ill be a Stein supporter, he added of Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
The encounter on Wednesday was emblematic of a presidential election driven by questions about the politics of the 1990s and the legacy of the Clinton years. On the campaign trail, when confronted with a voter on the rope line or a heckler in the crowd, Clinton is often unwilling to let his record go undefended.
The conversation here began when Clinton approached Brodys booth. The young Sanders supporter, a Santa Fe native, appeared to decline a handshake with the former president, instead posing a question about aid to families with dependent children.

So a Berniestan who was playing with his fucking Legos and Power Rangers during the Clinton era wants to lecture WJC about his presidency? How on EARTH does he even walk with balls this fucking big? And real classy declining his handshake, asshole...
I can only come down on him so hard, though... I remember when I was 24 and knew everything there was to know about everything, and nobody could tell me shit. Hopefully someday this kid grows the fuck up and realizes how much of a bellend he was.
Any of our newer posters want to come forward and admit they were that guy? I can think of quite a few candidates...

And please tell me how long you'd entertain some kid who was lecturing you about your job, and past events in your workplace that he was not privy to?

(1,442 posts)Maybe it should be, Bill is a lawyer, he was elected president
Knowing the outcomes of the policies involves knowing the facts, not the spin... notice who was trying to spin and who wasn't?
Yeah... It's interesting to see posts like this from HRC supporters that blindly adhere to rhetoric rather than facts
Just because Bill and Hillary wear the 'blue jersey' doesn't give them an automatic pass when it comes to debating the facts as well as progressive / liberal ideology against the outcomes of so called DEM elected officials
odd that your posts and replies avoid intellectual honesty and defer to casting aspersions towards the young lad...

But thanks for speaking up, I like all my enemies on this forum to out themselves... If you're still around after the primary (and I seriously doubt you will be), we'll chat this out at length.

(1,442 posts)Wow, I'm mortally wounded by your post.... ouchie...
I'll be around, not going to let folks, like yourself, use the rules to get me into that 'gotcha' post moment...
I'm sure you're going to be one of those 'advocates of out' that try to shield yourself by trying to remove more capable minds from damaging your precious forum.... let's call it 'perception'....
By 'chat', well, let's just say you'll be on the interesting, yet comically losing end of that...
It's good to get ya dialed in so quickly with one post though, you do have that going for ya
I had hopes to get an actual reply to the point I made but alas that is not to be...
Have a day!

(45,056 posts)sounds pretty damn fucking informed about the damage some of Bill's policies. And if you don't mind me saying so, you might be older than him but I think that 24 year old kid knows a lot more about the Clinton era than than you do, since he knows how to discuss issues that impacted a fucking lot of people without being an ass, and he has a lot more class and decency than you do. I don't hear him talking about someones "balls", maybe it's just jealousy on your behalf eh?

Besides, there isn't enough time in my day to refute all the bullshit I see on DU and elsewhere. And if there was, Brody wouldn't be on my Top 50 list...

(1,507 posts)That's why I laugh when I hear Berners saying Hillary needs to be the one to make it right with them.
In reality, there is nothing she could say or do (other than self immolating) that would satisfy them.

(17,376 posts)Debating substantive issues and opposing the policies of a former president to his face takes quite a lot of guts.
I'm quite sure the only reason Bill stuck around that long is because he was impressed and enjoyed the conversation.

(4,407 posts)Unfortunately, that's quite common, even while whining their heads off about everything against Hillary being sexism.
However, there is a strong theme to this post that people should be deferential to Democrats (big D, tm). In this case, Bill Clinton. There's this feeling that people shouldn't question Democrats, shouldn't disagree with them. "Shouldn't question nobility" is what this translates to, and it's exactly the wrong attitude in a democracy. The same idea is behind the anger at people who question Hillary and her past decisions, or who question her disregard of rules when it came to e-mail.

Most of the Berners are in it for themselves in one way or another. They all have some "angle" to play that usually involves getting something for nothing.
