Related: About this forumBernie Sanders compares his campaign to basketball’s Golden State Warriors
The Vermont senator is all but done mathematically in his pursuit of front-runner Hillary Clinton, but he's continued to pick up wins and California's June 7 primary could be a chance to try to win over superdelegates he'll now need to take the nomination. Sanders related his presidential hopes to the success of the Oakland-based Warriors, who broke the regular-season wins record this year, led by MVP Stephen Curry.
"They turned it around, I think that is what our campaign is going to do as well; a very good omen for our campaign," Sanders told reporters as he left the arena. The senator even confirmed to reporters that he thought his presence in the arena helped Golden State win, perhaps as some sort of good luck charm.
"Absolutely! No question about it. They were losing, then in the third quarter they did fantastically well. What other explanation is there?" he said to reporters.

(7,299 posts)spent $18 trillion on new entitlements and the pandering Sanders knew that all along. No comparison between the two. More evidence of this guy's out of control ego.

(6,837 posts)I just wish people on both sides would stop smearing each others' candidate. Assuming Hillary is elected president, we'll need still Bernie in the Senate.
Bernie isn't a horrible person because he had the temerity to run against Hillary and fight for the same agenda he has championed for decades. And Hillary is not a slimy, corrupt she-devil or basically the "same" as Donald Trump.
Each of these candidates is far, far better than Donald Trump.

(7,299 posts)to Lyin' Ted Cruz. After attacking the Party much like Cruz has attacked his Party, Sanders will be shunned. He and Cruz will have the time to play tic tac toe. In all seriousness, I think it's time for Sanders to retire.

(81,855 posts)The equivalent would be Bill Clinton and Barack Obama campaigning together. The Sanders campaign doesn't have that. They are the Grizzlies plodding along against the Spurs, but everyone knows the outcome by game 2.

(10,721 posts)But the analogies are poor. Since very early on in the primary/caucus season, patterns have been evident, as I've written about numerous times before. Such as Clinton doing much better among POC and in diverse, delegate-rich states. Such as Clinton doing better in primaries and Sanders doing better in caucuses (and in the 'reddest' states in the US). There was never any reason to believe those patterns would get flipped upside down. This is why it was clear months ago that Clinton would end up with more pledged delegates, and why so many are flabbergasted by the denial of that reality.
