2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHow will Bernie replay over $600k for his Rome jaunt?
According to his supporters, he doesn't have that kind of money, so how is he going to pay his campaign back?

(2,280 posts)Not like he can't raise any new money for his next luxury escapade. Especially since he doesn't seem to care about donation limits and FEC rules. Bling bling!

(891 posts)His supporters were still donating after it was clear he has no path to victory, I don't think they'd mind giving Creflo Sanders money to vacation....I mean money to spread the gospel around the globe.

(17,064 posts)If I had a drink for every 'concern' post today about Sanders Vatican trip I'd have been hammered by early afternoon. Since the trip so badly irritated the Hillarians, it has to be rated a rousing success.

2banon
(7,321 posts)The deal agreed to by state parties and the Clinton campaign allows for the first $2,700 raised by the Victory Fund to go to Hillary Clintons campaign. The next $33,400 is earmarked for the DNC, and the remaining funds are meant for state Democratic parties. Under this agreement, it was assumed that the DNC would spend that money helping each respective state party win down-ballot elections.
However, after the original distribution, the Clinton campaign is the sole decider of what happens to the rest of the cash

(11,945 posts)Since she's so secretive and won't let the American people see even one of her $250K speeches, I guess we'll find out when the FBI finishes its investigation of her very peculiar "family foundation" where all the money accumulates.
In the meantime, you can scream about Bernie Sanders being invited to speak at a Vatican conference on issues that would never, ever interest you.
Go ahead, scream about it. Louder. Louder. Throw us a tantrum.

(50,248 posts)If he happened to use anything I sent, I say great. He got good press. A bigger question is how people "know" his campaign paid for this? Bernie might not have a half million dollars (2 hours of Hillary speeches) for a trip, but he's got wealthy friends who might have paid for the trip since it could or could not be considered a campaign event.
Nonhlanhla
(2,074 posts)that he thought he could write off that trip as a campaign expense. How could a trip to the Vatican to give a speech at a conference be part of his campaign? Or is he in fact admitting that it was a publicity stunt designed to make it appear as if the Pope had endorsed him?
