Bernie feeding the "or bust" trolls

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/sanders-on-bernie-or-bust-supporters-i-cant-tell-them-what-to-do/

Tapper asked, “Is Bernie or Bust a palatable position?” Sanders said, “The idea that I can snap my fingers and have millions of supporters march in line––that is not what our effort is about.”

And if he’s not the nominee, he added, then the onus is on Clinton to “explain to those people why she should get their support.”

It's true that Bernie can't MAKE anyone vote for Hillary, but he can damn sure tell them it's the right thing to do, and it's what he wants them to do. That's what a decent person would do in his position.

That and the misogynist card is all they've got.

Personally, I think that it is both bigoted and sexist to continuously play those two cards. However women, and people of color don't seem to have a problem with it.

17. Way to not understand your opposition.

Sanders is not a general commanding his troops. We are not loyal to Sanders, we are loyal to a set of policies and ideals.

As a result, Sanders issuing orders has little effect.

That's the difference between the slogans, "I'm with her" and "He's with us".

The Clinton campaign understands this. That is why the Clinton campaign has been attacking Sanders supporters instead of Sanders. Damaging Sanders does not get his supporters to switch, because it's not about Sanders. It's about those policies and ideals.

Do you not see that if he doesn't do that, regardless of its effect, he's a complete liar? It goes against what his loud supporters have been saying about him this whole time; that he's a moral, honorable person.

Prove it.

25. This time, read what Sanders actually said.

Sanders said telling his supporters to vote for Clinton won't have much effect, not that Sanders will not do it.

Again, your refusal to understand your opposition leads you to attack something Sanders did not say. As well as continuing to trash Sanders's supporters.

Do you not see that if he doesn't do that, regardless of its effect, he's a complete liar?

Do you not see that your strawman is not what Sanders actually said? The liar here is not Sanders.

33. He's explained how issuing orders to his supporters will not have the effect you want.

Again, you are operating under the assumption that if Sanders says to vote for Clinton, lots of Sanders supporters will follow their orders.

Because that is what you'd do if the roles were reversed.

But Sanders supporters are not the same as Clinton supporters. You proudly say "I'm with her". We proudly say "He's with us". Those short sentences show the profound difference between the supporters of each candidate.

And until you understand that difference, you will continue to make Clinton's job harder. Like with this thread.

49. That would be one of the major reasons she's not a good candidate.

A long track record of flip-flops and pandering for votes means she can not believably promise much today.

So you'd be much better served figuring out how to help shore up that problem instead of continuing to attack. Because attacks won't fix it. If we were happy with "lesser of two evil" arguments, we'd already be Clinton supporters. So attempting to make a greater evil will not work.

As for your glib dismissal, you're going to need us in November, or you're going to pull a Coakley.

59. And just how would we hold the general election if aliens invaded?

What would we do if a plague of space orangutans descended on our country on November 1st?!?!?!!

Again, you have a large problem: You need the left in order to win the general election. You hate it, but it's true. The moderate Republicans who have spent the last 30 years hating Clinton will not vote for her. Even with Trump on the ballot.

So instead of continuing to attack us, you need to pivot to the general. That is, if you actually want to win. You would get to do a lot more hippy punching if Clinton loses though, so you've got a tough decision to make.

69. Nope. I admit he won't be handed the nomination.

What I expect to happen is Clinton will win the nomination.

Then around mid to late September, the Republicans in the FBI will leak that they recommended an indictment. This will happen whether or not it is true. Thus getting the Republicans a "two-fer", greatly hurting Clinton's campaign while also greatly hurting Obama's legacy.

That will result in a November election with incredibly low turnout. And incredibly low turnout elections really help the Republicans.

Now, you gonna keep going with the hippy punching, or do you want to win the general?

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5706fbbde4b03a9e75d3fd93

Marina Fang Associate Politics Editor, The Huffington Post

As the two Democratic presidential candidates engage in some of their sharpest attacks of the campaign, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Thursday affirmed that he would support opponent Hillary Clinton in the general election if she wins the nomination.

“Sure I will,” he said, when pressed by CBS News’ Charlie Rose in an interview. “Look, as I said a million times, I think the idea of a Donald Trump or a Ted Cruz presidency would be an unmitigated disaster for this country. I will do everything in my power and work as hard as I can to make sure that that does not happen. And if Secretary Clinton is the nominee, I will certainly support her.”

Many Bernie supporters have absolutely no interest in voting for Hillary. Period. Full stop.
As I have said before, many see her and Trump alike. All part of the same corn crop, just different rows of corn.

Yet your camp doesn't get this. Bernie may very well say that but you need to understand, a very large margin of his supporters will NOT vote for Hillary who they see as corrupt, propped up, artificial, disingenuous, dangerous and untrustworthy.

That is the bottom line.

Bernie is right in what he said, he can't wave a magic wand and say "Ooomp loompa, you will now be hypnotized and you will vote for Hillary under my command".

The reality is what again?

What I posted above.

You don't get it. A large chunk of Bernie supporters aren't interested in voting for the "Master Of Puppets". This is what you and your camp fail to understand & that margin of his supporters is rather large. You and I can beat around the bush on this but you're looking through the glass being a Hillary supporters. I am not.

People are sick and tired of voting for "who you don't want as POTUS" instead of voting for someone they believe in and because of that, many are taking a stand and not "falling in line" as Dems would hope they do.

62. Sorry but you're rather off the rails

Bernie has said all along he would support and fight for Hillary should she be the nominee.

Why is that hard to understand?

65. Because every time he's asked, he refuses to answer, or says it's all her job.

52. Actually this makes sense to me....

Bernie knows BoB is not actually Bernie supporters but republicans disguising themselves as Bernie supporters and knows that he holds no sway over them

75. It's not HIS ego, he knows it's up to the people to decide who they will vote for. And up to the

politician who want's their votes to get their votes.

74. The idea that he can snap his fingers and have millions of supporters march in line

is fucking ridiculous, people know what they want to do and i don't need anyone making up my mind for me. Getting voters in line to vote for her is Hilary's job. Any decent person who expects people to vote for them reaches out to those voters.
