Reposting the link to Skinner's Announcement RE: DU's switch to GE mode on June 16th

The big change that is coming to DU on June 7th is that it will no longer be June 6th.

GE mode begins June 16th, not June 7th.

Here is the link to Skinner's post about the changes ahead. It seems that some folks have read it, some haven't, and I am seeing a number of posts on what happens on June 7th. As far as DU is considered, it will just be another day on DU.

I have only excerpted the beginning of his post below. I encourage everyone who is frustrated with the current situation to go to the link and read the entire post, which will separate fact from fiction: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1013&pid=5833

Timing (link)

After the primaries on June 7 (California, New Jersey, etc.) we will announce that the primaries are nearing an end, and members will have one more week to "get it out of their systems."

The final Democratic presidential primary is Tuesday, June 14 in Washington DC. People will have one last glorious day of primary season on June 15, and then Democratic Underground general election season begins on Thursday, June 16.

What to expect (link)

I think a lot of people have the wrong idea, and are going to be disappointed.

We have no intention of purging anyone, and we have no intention of disallowing good-faith discussion of the issues. I think most people are going to be fine with that. But there are going to be a a few people (including both Hillary and Bernie supporters) who are going to be disappointed because the massive crackdown they have been hoping for does not come to pass.

Most people think the big change coming in general election season is that people on this website will need to stop bashing Hillary Clinton. Yes, that's part of it -- but it's not the only thing and it's definitely not the most important thing. The really big change coming in general election season is that people on this website will need to stop bashing each other.

...it really has come from both sides. The purpose of my reposting Skinner's announcement can be found in his assertion that we need to stop trashing each other. "The End" means "The End." It doesn't mean payback. It means "The End."

The mudslinging pretty much needs to stop on a dime, regardless of who is slinging the mud.

Seriously, you've become a broken record, and you meet every attempt at peacemaking with more squabbling, so we're done here.

...I think a lot of people have the wrong idea, and are going to be disappointed.

The definition of "over the top slurs" resides with the Admins, not individual posters.

I have no idea what the new DU will look like, but in another ATA thread, Skinner wrote

"If you get any hides under the new system, you will be provided with a specific rule that you violated."

So no, it will not be frivolous alerts fully supported by like-minded "jury members."

Seriously...jury members don't take an "oath." You tell me what happens when a Sanders post is alerted and the majority of jurors are Clinton supporters. You tell me what happens when a Clinton post is alerted and the majority of jurors are Sanders supporters. Fair and impartial and adhering to the TOS? Maybe, maybe not.

I think the first sentence above is key. Some people are going to be disappointed. Very, very disappointed.

As Skinner wrote in the link I shared in my OP:

"If you are criticizing Hillary Clinton because you want to help her succeed, then you'll be fine. But if you are criticizing Hillary Clinton because you want to tear her down, then you won't be fine."

So on one hand, a "fine" or "not fine" post will still be open to interpretation, and it will be a work in progress until people find their "voice," but mass takedowns are pretty much, as Frank Zappa once said, in the imagination of the imaginer, and people who insist on being angry and confrontational and conducting personal attacks will largely be viewed through the same lens as people who are bashing Clinton.

Enough is enough. The combat threads all repeat themselves. When it comes to the anger, we've seen nothing new here in a month. It needs to stop, and it will...one way or another.
