MSNBC Kasie Hunt: "Insider mood in the Sanders camp is more 'solemn' than you would expect"

Last edited Mon Jun 6, 2016, 04:20 PM - Edit history (3)

This could mean one or two things.

1. Internal polling shows Hillary will win CA
2. Word has gotten out that the campaign ends tomorrow no matter what happens (Bernie drops out)

I think it's probably mostly #2. And if it is, expect the volume of leaks and insider information to increase over the next 36 hours.

Of course, he needs to concede and endorse. If he wants to wait a day or two fine...or even waste his time calling supers...Ok by me...but if he intends to as his surrogate Tad said yesterday to barnstorm across the country...in order to gain the attention of supers...it is not ok.

I hope you are right. I hope he does the right thing. If not, it matters not to Clinton. I think she will come out of any chaos strong. She won't be the one stepping over the line. Merely be the observer. It will be a punishment to Sanders reputation.

Mail in ballots can be posted until 8 pm on Tuesday.

I don't see Bernie dropping out before it is known if he won or lost in California.

After that I think he might negotiate with Clinton for some concessions on the platform in return for his support. A week or two are not going to matter in the grand scheme of things. It is not as if Trump is using the time wisely anyway.

If it takes a few days for CA, that's good for her campaign either way. Obviously, good if she wins, but if she loses, the results will have been drug out for so long, that the power of the loss is reduced. And, even if Sanders decides to have some sort of victory rally, several days later it will be pretty pathetic after Hillary has already been declared the presumptive nominee, and the media attention has shifted to Trump v. Clinton.

since he's always said he's staying in until everyone has voted (unless he wants to insult the black voters in DC). But after that, I would think everyone in the party would make it clear to him that he has ZERO chance of flipping anyone, and it's over. If he fought on past then, all he would do is ruin his own reputation.

Even 80-20 won't close the delegate gap completely, but it would be an earth-shattering statement.

A close result, which now it looks like it will be, won't do anything for him.
