2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMy message to the Democratic Party.
You need not worry about selecting Hillary Clinton to be the party's nominee against Trump in November.
Remember, history can't judge you harshly if there aren't people around to be historians.

(6,280 posts)... The politics of fear. Only Bernie can save us from complete annihilation.
Maybe they'll have a hand in our demise by allowing Trump to win.

(300 posts)Pick anyone else. Pick Biden. Pick Warren. Hell, pick Nancy Freakin' Pelosi to be at the head of the ticket if you wish. No prominent Democrat fares worse in a head-to-head match-up vs. Trump than Hillary. NOBODY.

(2,461 posts)I check RCP, and the last 7 polls, Hillary is indeed polling on average +2, loosing 2 polls to Trump, Her 'ascending poll # trajectory being 6, 3, 4, 1, 5 - with 5, the latest having the smallest sample and highest MoE.
Where are you getting your poll #'s?

(6,393 posts)You know, I haven't felt that way since the early 1980's. Back when that Day After Tomorrow TV film came out that showed life after a nuclear war in America.
I remember growing up in my pre-teen years with that film, a far different feeling from my parents who grew up being told to hide under their school desk to survive an atomic attack.
I grew up with the understanding that it would be an instant end for most of us should that happen.
So when talking about an election as the end of the world, all I can do is just laugh, because it's simply so absurd on the face of it that I really find it hard to take the person saying it seriously.
Or is this one of the moments where the person saying it is one of the very few in the world that sees reality as it truly is and the rest of us are just rubes?
Oh, Occam's Razor, where are you...

(9,610 posts)I do not think it will be different than the last 15 years. Pretty bad and steadily getting worse. My great dissapointment is that there is a chance to take anothet path.
I am looking out to a nice morning a hoping that everyone who was with Bernie will continue to fight against the path many wish to continue; at the detriment to the planet, the majority of humanity, all all the other species that share this space with us.
Neoliberalism is killing the world.

(1,999 posts)She can and will beat Trump. Just because Bernie insists he's the only one that can beat Trump doesn't make it so.

(1,473 posts)A Trump presidency will roll in a new era of Conservative policies
That will make the income gap wider made it impossible to get an abortion, rollback a LGBT rights etc for thirty plus yrs due to SCOTUS picks that Bernie's camp I don't think are important.
The Berner's purposeful obtuseness has gotten really really old.

(1,473 posts)I've literally seen "only Bernie can save us" on here several times.
Now , seriously, seeing Trump's temperament, do you really want him as the CIC?
and are you really going to try and pass Hillary off as being as horrible as Trump?
do you really think SCOTUS picks are no big deal? do you believe Trump will do what's best for the country or allow the GOP leaders / corporate America execs to pick them through business negotiations? Because Trump literally states he will run the government like he runs his business.. because he's SO successful.

(68,469 posts)Hillary Clinton won by all measures. She was not selected. Bernie was asking to be selected And Bernie Sanders should be embarrassed to do such an undemocratic thing...He wanted to overturn the votes of millions of people based on cherry picked polls and have the supers give him the nomination...AKA select him. I know this is difficult, but let's be honest about this.
