2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumYesterday I spoke with two downticket Democrats here in Wisconsin. They're devastated ...
... that Hillary is going to be our candidate. No coattails.
They're pinning their hopes on Russ Feingold driving turnout here.
In 2012, with President Obama leading the ticket, we elected strong progressive Tammy Baldwin to the US Senate. With Russ running against Ron Johnson, we need those coattails again.
I wouldn't expect Russ to be as candid as the two candidates I spoke with, but will note that Bernie carried Wisconsin by 18%.

(2,542 posts)Maybe if they stopped pretending they were already a majority, and worked to bring people to their side instead of assuming they'll join them, they might have better luck.
Bernie carried Wisconsin because of Republican crossover. That was the same primary that FAILED to elect the Democratic state supreme court justice. You know, when 11% of "Bernie supporters" didn't vote for a single down-ticket Democrat!

(62,269 posts)Some of those kids won't get a chance to vote out that conservative judge until they're 28. Their entire young adult life with a psychopath for a judge.
But fucking Scott Walker has never won a GE, his seat is in off election years. GOTV sucks.

(27,985 posts)Democrats here really don't show up well outside of the GE. The time it takes to vote in the inner city has a LOT to do with that.

Watch how quick he loses.

I would love to research if their seats are safe or not. If not, as a Clinton supporter, I will send them some money if they are solid candidates.

(5,066 posts)I am not so sure i would call Tammy Baldwin a strong progressive.early on she endorsed clinton.although i believe she voted
against tpp she underminded that vote by supporting the covert pro-tpp candiate Clinton.

(11,495 posts)This is all about not voting for anyone who supported Hillary, and that's just BS from the word go. Now if these people are really right wing trolls, or Trump trolls, that's one thing, but if they are "real" Democrats, Liberals, or Progressives, and they are going to act this way, they have a serious problem with reality.
My view is the trolls are going to get in every shot they can between now and the 16th to do their job of trying to get people here on DU to NOT vote for any Democrat in November, and the new meme must be that if they supported Hillary, you can't vote for any of the down ticket Democrats. Nothing but right wing talking points being used here on DU. I will be glad when the trolls go back under their bridges till the next election.

(27,985 posts)Put them side-by-side to Sanders and tell me where the hell anywhere in that data, she is not progressive.
You can't. Because she is and you're calling her that only because you're bitter and angry.
Move the fuck on and leave the solid progressives in my state alone. We have a lot of REALLY bad politicians here in WI, she's not one of them. And if you look, really look, you'll see how she helps us all in the Senate.

(30,481 posts)Your selective outrage is kind of funny.
This is what gets you going around calling people a hypocrite. lol.
Additionally, I have trashed Clinton for some of her votes and statement. I have done so in this primary season. These are things I don't expect you to understand. What you define as hypocrisy is actually consistency. I wish you recognized that. It would go a long way to making conversation more productive here.
Thank you for telling me what to consider.
