2016 Postmortem

Not only is he "taking it to the convention," but his whole crowd just booed the shit out of Hillary when talking about the call he had with Hillary and he just stands back and lets it happen.
Speak up, say there is more that unites us than divides us. SAY SOMETHING

SHE IS A PROGRESSIVE TOO.
She's no progressive. Even if our goals make the platform it won't matter. They'll be promptly ignored as soon as the election is over. The party has proven they'll fight harder against progressives than republicans.
Good one, but nobody but Hillarites buys it.

I predict he will concede after DC but insist on being a loud voice on platform.
QC
(26,371 posts)That's clearly the point, but you're not dealing with people who are into nuanced discussion.
Think more along the lines of early 1970's teenyboppers arguing over which one of the Monkees is the dreamiest.

Has anyone on the Sanders staff checked the demographics of DC?
What's the point, especially after last night's losses?

(1,820 posts)You can continue on in the same vein as you have all along. No worries. It is okay - those that don't like Hillary will never like her - whether Bernie quits or not. Over is over...when it is over. Good luck with Hillary - I suspect she will win the GE and then you can have 4 years of her...it will be fun.
So all that said why are you so angry that some don't like her? Why do you wonder why you have to be gracious when your candidate has won. I just don't understand it at all....
Not happy till everyone stands behind your candidate? No going to happen.
Don't be mad - go play.

(1,820 posts)I personally don't hate her - I just can not and will not vote for her. It is against my moral guidelines to vote for anyone who promotes war and would bring young children to "heel".
Her views are too different from mine and her self-righteousness means she will believe it should always be her way or the highway.

Hillary has not won the nomination. Neither candidate will have the requisite count prior to the convention. The AP was playing games with the American public Monday night and deliberately suppressed voter turnout Tuesday.
There are a TON of lies surrounding this primary.
Lord Magus
(1,999 posts)Hillary does have the requisite number of delegates to win the nomination. Shouting "don't count the superdelegates" and other Berniemath slogans won't change that.

(1,048 posts)If there were boos for President Obama I would've lost my fucking mind!! There are some already posting nasty stuff about Obama on twitter tonight. Remember when Obama had a rally and people started booing. He said "Don't boo. Vote" Would've been nice to see Sanders temper the boos. Says a lot about him at this point and its disappointing because at one point I was undecided and considering voting for him. Talking to a lot of people now who can't believe they were ever for Bernie Sanders.

(25,128 posts)Of course I can't read everything, and there are always a few obnoxious people in any group, but so far I really don't see anything that I'd consider an insult. It's not as if there are dozens of OPs calling him names. What's so terrible?

Seriously though, are you Clinton supporters ever happy? It seems like when she's losing you guys are butt-hurt and angry, and when she's winning you guys are still butt-hurt and angry.
No one is universally liked. No matter what you do, there will always be people who just won't like you. Given that, when you send surrogates out to attack people who disagree with you as: sexist, racist, homophobic, unrealistic, naive, demanding liberal purity, etc. etc. etc, ETC... why express surprise when the targets of those political smears don't respond well to your demands for electoral luv.

(30,481 posts)Still, pain is pain. I'm also really not sure how gracious we need to be. I just had a sexist remark thrown at me this morning. That is based in personal hatred. Makes me want to make it clear to them that they didn't just get beat, they had their asses handed to them.

(41,694 posts)you fit the bill.

(18,837 posts)I personally think half the anger on the site has been the result of others telling them how they "should" think or feel.
I don't think anyone has the right to tell you what you "should" do, unless maybe a cop telling you that you "shouldn't" break the law. I try to listen to cops whenever possible, and when it comes to anyone else, I do what's right for me first and worrying about making other people happy with my decisions second.
So I will play devil's advocate here and ask you a very direct question.
You're upset right now, correct?
What exactly do you feel your anger is going to do to change whatever Sanders decides to do?
Personally...and I am not you...I'd be more interested in focusing my efforts on things that are in my control.
You're not "supposed to be gracious" unless you want to be gracious.
I'm not a fan of Hillary Clinton. If you heard corks popping last night, they weren't coming from my bottle.
But we are where we are at and what exactly can you, I, or anyone else on DU do about it today?
I'm staying out of the "victory" and "history" conversations because raining on someone else's parade just isn't for me. It's not my parade.
But all of the anger in the world isn't going to change it, and I don't feel like being angry today. I have too many things that need my attention to allow it.
Be upset of the system if you'd like. Be upset with people who "booed the shit out of" Clinton? What's that going to get you? What exactly are you going to gain by that, and what would you like to see happen? Because if you think you are going to make something happen with your anger and your assertion that the boos give you the justification to not be "gracious," it's going to be a long, angry day for you.
Let it go.
Focus on something you can control and stop looking for people who will behave the way you think they should behave. That will get you nowhere.

(14,582 posts)since way before the primary, Bernie was the one who brought it out in the open and exposed it for all to see. Pretending it isn't a BIG divide and trying to get the rest of us to buckle under is a laugh. Principles don't blow away because hrc-ers think we should shut up and go away.
