(23,720 posts)See, I told you you couldn't resist being the one of the most vitriolic, divisive individuals on this discussion board. No freaking way you can let bygones be bygones. I caught your damn slam of Sanders once again. You'll never stop because in my opinion you are full of hatefulness and little else.

(39,312 posts)He's got integrity, knows exactly where he was helped and harmed, and who he owes. He does owe the dems this endorsement and work on Hillary's campaign. He'll do it and keep the issues he cares about in the limelight at the same time.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)... to hear him say "I'M WITH HER!" and to campaign on her behalf! He's going to be a great asset (especially, in light of the fact that Trump is already quoting Bernie with the "she's not qualified" bullshit ... Bernie's got a LOT of amends to make for that screw-up!)

(45,851 posts)You've been telling us for a year what you think of Sanders, don't try to take it all back now overnight.
I wouldn't have any credibility if I all of a sudden start singing Hillary's praises after spending a year doing the opposite so I won't do that.
One thing I've noticed about authoritarians is they have almost no concept of how non-authoritarians think. What you are doing might work with fellow authoritarians but fails miserably with those who don't march to that drummer.
If you treated a dog like you have been treating Sanders supporters it would be a confused and hostile mess. Whup it, whup it, scold it, whup it some more and then all of a sudden start giving it treats and telling it nice doggy.
Five, five days. Ah ah ah.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)I have been restrained in my criticism of Senator Sanders, and much of my criticism was a reaction to the criticism lodged upon my candidate by the supporters of Senator Sanders. A simple search would establish the veracity of my claims.
This is ironic in light of the fact I never questioned the intelligence or sincerity of Senator Sanders' supporters or his high profile endorsers, except in the rare cases where their aberrant behavior made it warranted. Every Clinton high profile endorser was attacked by the supporters of the senator and sometimes viciously. Also, the questioning of the intelligence of Hillary Clinton's African American supporters continues to this day. Thinking you know what is best for others is the sine qua non of authoritarianism:
Physician, heal thyself.

(99,710 posts)Maybe if folks would have taken Hitler seriously six million of my co-religionists would have lived and four continents would not have been thrown into war...Since Bernie and I share a common heritage I am sure he will join Hillary and all people of good conscience in the fight against Trump.

(45,851 posts)You really don't seem to have a clue how I think for one and I know or knew quite a few old timers on DU who do understand each other.
Going full Godwin right off the bat isn't very smart IMO, once you get to Hitler the dial is at eleven and there's nowhere else to go.
Dynamics, modulation is important in politics like it is in music, everything at full volume all the time numbs the senses and dulls the perceptions.
There are authoritarians in just about any political group, some groups have more than others, Republicans are virtually all authoritarians for instance.

Trump and Clinton are oligarchs.
Neither represent us.
Both are corrupt.
Both are poison to Democracy.
As citizens of this country, it is our responsibility and duty to act based on facts and due diligence.
"The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy? With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, A republic, if you can keep it.

Don't be a wingnut (right-wing or extreme-fringe).
Democratic Underground is an online community for politically liberal people who understand the importance of working within the system to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of political office.

(1,673 posts)Being liberal is to have an open mind.
Being conservative is to protect and defend.
Being both is what makes us Americans.
We truly are not all one or another.
Being free and informed allows us the privilege to ponder all the facets of complex social, economic, and political issues.
Possessing a liberated mind that allows open and even heated discussions...
And not to be trapped in polarizing and decisive dogma.
Study the candidates well and review their record to see if their actions reflect your own values, ethics, vision: what will be our legacy?

(13,877 posts)each other over. It's not about us. I'm sick of her manipulating the entire country with her "power" and her "reputation" and yes, her "gender" and who is "endorsing" her.
She has not earned the trust of the American people. Why are we fighting over this? It's on Ms. Clinton...and frankly my dear, she doesn't give a damn.

Since she is all but certain to win that, I guess I will be standing with her in the General. I just hope she returns the favor and stands strong on civil rights and liberties (especially with regards to LGBTQ issues) as president.
I am a loyal person, and my issues are important to me. If she stands up for that and she can count on my support indefinitely.[/font]
